Ok. I ate breakfast at 8:30 then about 12:30 on are way to the movie I was so hungry I felt sick like I wanted to puke! My parents were like "Well you should have ate!" I complained of the movie prices tickets/popcorn etc. They then threw in my face "Well you bought a $1700 dollar computer why are you complaining? I'M SICK OF IT! SO! I BOUGHT AN EXPENSIVE COMPUTER! I'VE WORKED IT OUT TO HAVE IT PAID OFF BY CHRISTMAS! SHEESH! I was wondering if anyone else gets put down for spending or put down in general and if so for what?

Thanks!

Practically my whole family put me down (apart from me mum, she's great :D) I've got a massive family that tend to ignore my existence untill they find something too pick at me for :@ some of them have even stopped talking too me because of my autism, they think I'm weird :@ but I try not to let them get to me :/

My parents put me down many times as a child, as a way of trying to raise the autism out of me.

My mom often gripe about how I quit my last job because I wanted to be lazy & get a free check for doing nothing & wast the money on stupid things instead of paying for my share of the household expenses. I have a few different physical disabilities in addition to AS including being close to legally blind. When I had a job I was working over 55 hours a week when management let me. I have been trying to find a job but my area is rural & there's very few jobs I am capable of doing here. I paid into the disability system when I was working so I am not collecting a free check like they think. Part of the reason I'm not contributing to the household is because I ran up a lot of medical expenses when I had my last job because I had problems doing certain aspects due to a tremor disorder that I tried to treat but I felt like I was having a stroke on a med & I was let go after being out for two weeks due to company policy. I do like eating out & I sometimes buy CDs that I cant pirate but I'm not spending my money on much else that isn't essential.

One of my best friends has a nasty habit of doing this constantly. He views everything as a competition and I think he has issues with appearing inferior or inadequate so he always has to put others down. For example, I recently moved into a much bigger flat with a big balcony, so I bought a table, chairs and a barbecue and invited him round to hang out and chill. Instead of just relaxing and enjoying each others' company he goes off on one about how what I've bought is s**t, I quote "you buy s**t you get s**t" and how I should have spent 4 times the amount on the stuff that he'd buy if he had the space for it. This has been a constant point of friction between us because to me it's irrelevant what brand or how expensive something is, as long as I can use it and enjoy it with those closest to me, whereas he has to have a big flash Audi, iPhone, expensive clothes and furniture etc. I can really wind him up by telling him Madonna wrote "material girl" just for him and he gets really annoyed when I sing or hum bits of it.

Actually, I put myself down a lot more than other people do. I'm my own worst enemy.

Isn't this what everyone does to everyone?

My mom never does that, and i don't think that everyone does that to everyone, i encounter a lot of friendly people during my walks etc :o It depends on where you are though and how the people are there i think, my dad was quite adept at putting everything down besides himself, but oh well xD
