See my posts on this page:
http://www.wrongplanet.net/postxf39934-0-15.html

and the next

The best solos are ones with Alla Rakha, Max Roach (many people beg to differ, but I think he had something. died recently), John Bonham and Ginger Baker.

The others are percussionists/drummers that I really like, but not necessarily their best solo.

Shouldn't this be moved to the music/arts subforum?

Anyways, best drum solo is the intro to "New rose", the world's oldest punk song. A very rapid intro of pounding drums before the guitar comes into play shortly after.

Rat Scabies is the drummer. Not my favourite person off stage but he was a great drummer.

No apologies needed mate, just think in the music subforum there'll be more replies :)

Anyway, good topic. Luckily you did not ask for the best guitar solos because I would not know which one to pick, there's so many good ones out there.

Danny Carey of Tool also has some very good drum parts although usually there is a bit of guitar or bass at some points as well so not sure if you call his parts actual drum solos.

Crackedpleasures,

there is a good drum solo by lars ulrich and james hetfield that i really enjoy but didn't post on here due to swear words.

Makes sense, probably would have got more views in the music form. Oh well.

Thanks for the idea about a guitar solos thread

That will be a hard on to decide. Will probably be either Matt Bellamy or Will Sergeant or Johnny Marr for me though.

But keep them music threads coming :!:

To those who like the heavier metal: Hellhammer of Mayhem has a few good drum solos (such as the one in The Freezing Moon when the music becomes faster, right after the long guitar intro)
