Why does iPlayer have those loud jingles before programmes?

Does it actually want people's speakers to get bust before they can actually listen to what they want to listen? They're about twice as loud as the programme!

I have never encountered any jingles on iPlayer..?

Not sure if it's called a jingle, but it's those sounds that indicate which channel the programme is from. It has its own bar of progress and the real programme only begins after it ends, so it's sort of like an ad for the channel.
