Does the street you live on ever remind you of a race track?

Mine does! So awesome (!), no wonder I don't give a damn about the actual sport or racing video games, as I have a constant realistic version! (May the f*****s who install noisy engines on purpose to compensate for a miniscule cock crash and burn one day.)

Well, there are some street racers who race on the street in front of the house so yes in a way it does remind me a bit of a race track.

I live on a drag strip. I thought of creating speed bumps from bags of asphalt from Home Depot, but then it would just mean the boom cars would have to go slower too which means I'd have to hear them longer

Only by the noise, trash on side the road from littering & how fast they go. I live on a major highway

All engines are loud.

The problem is the filtration for one. A free-flow filter will have less sound deadening. This alone can cause a roar from the throttle body itself.

The next is the exhaust itself. A stainless steel one will have the silencer (Muffler for you NA folk) less restricted. This too means less sound deadening.

Turbo's need to release pressure. When a gear is changed and the turbo has spun up (after 3,000 rpms) there will be pressure in the system. These are either dump valves or waste gates. They are different. They are either dumped in one great lump (dump valve - Blow-off valve for you NA folk) or a multitude of quick release in a short space of time. The Waste Gate. This one is more suited to Rally cars for performance alone.

Tyres (tires for you NA folk) can also cause noise. But with the aforementioned above, this is the least of your worries.

The other is music... Yeah, I'm not going to explain that one

Yeah, I have idiots driving 2x the speed limit up and down my street at all hours. I am not really bothered by a louder than stock exhaust if it actually serves a purpose, but most cars around here are owned by ricers who just chop off the stock muffler and put a loud tip on it instead. I actually own two cars with louder than stock exhaust (the sound of the Hooker Competition headers dumping through 2.5 in duals and a set of Flowmasters is wonderful, if not a bit much on my ears!) but I try to be respectful of others.
