Sensitive to Sunlight, any Suggestions for Sunglasses
My eyes have been becoming increasingly sensitive to sunlight over the past few years, they've become so bad that on bright days it is quiet literally painful.
I used to think that it was just a result from my lack of outdoor activity however I've seen a lot of people here have light sensitivity as well.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of sunglasses I can wear to help with this?
I have tried a few pairs of cheap sunglasses, the first helped a good bit but they were broken and the 2nd is not helping much.
I prefer lighter sunglasses, yellow lenses were in the first one that seemed to help the new pair are a lighter brown with a red tinge.
Is there a certain wave or spectrum of light that is causing the pain perhaps?
Any particular thing I should be looking for in a pair of sunglasses?
I would prefer something that didn't cost $100 of course, perhaps something in the $20-$30 range at most, though I'm somewhat open to more expensive options.
If it is relevant, I have a larger head L/XL in hat size, and I find the bridge"nose" of glasses tend to be a little small on most I try.

I have a severe light sensitivity, and in fact if I try to fight it, I will get an ophthalmic migraine which causes blindness for a period of time, and later a head ache. I've found that polarized sun glasses help the best, and I prefer Oakley (not because of the price and name, but because they really work well). They make several types of lenses for most Oakley models, and I like the gray polarized the best. They also have mirror bronze, mirror gray, etc. Those colors come in both polarized and standard (non-polarized), in most cases. The price is high; about $150 & up, and the replacement lens sets are around $85.

aspi-rant.. I'm not sure I understand what you linked me to.
They don't seem to have a large amount of information on the site.
Seems they want you to buy their books to find out any real information.
Though it doesn't seem like it would help me, its only sunlight that hurts my eyes.

$150 There's no way I can afford a pair of sunglasses that are that expensive, hell an entire outfit I wear isn't worth that much.
I'll look around and see if I can find what it is about those lens's that help. hopefully find a MUCH cheaper version.
The key is polarized glasses that fit you well as kx250rider said. I have a little trick if you want cheaper ones though. Take the pair you are looking at pick up another of the exact same ones turn the second pair 90 degrees to the others if you can see thru both lenses they are not good enough to protect or comfort you eyes. Avoid bright yellow lenses. If you ware Rx glasses get transition type lenses. Hope this is help full! I know what sensitive eyes are like as I have acid burnt mine in the past.

in many cases of light sensitivity, irlen could help.
like light sensitivity caused by fluorescent light, LED lights etc.
or to white/yellow/blue/green/red light.
or to bright or to little contrast etc.
you did not state:
so i presumed you had the same light sensitivity problems as many users, and naturally directed you to something that has help many people on the spectrum with their light sensitivity problems.
if it is only sunlight, only good sunglasses will help.
irlen sunglasses are also a possibility… since you may have other causes for your light sensitivity problems then you might assume...
Sorry, I fixed that in the opening post. I honestly hadn't realized that I hadn't stated specifically sunlight until you mentioned it.
I would consider looking into them if the only option weren't 3 hours away. Don't think my insurance would pay for them though.
As I said previously any given outfit I wear isn't even worth $100...and mostly second hand, so expensive glasses aren't really a possibility.
Being poor/broke sucks.

i haven't tried it either, but would love to give a try. (ekstreme sensitive to fluorescent light types and LEDs)
closest to me is either berlin or stockholm, last time i looked.
thats more than 3 hours away...

polarized glasses work for me, and fishing glasses are around 15.00(us) i scrach glasses all the time so buying them cheap is the best for me.
all fishing glasses should be polarized, but check before buying.
