When did you step off the flying saucer onto our little planet?
I hope you're enjoying your stay here on earth!
Lol!

The point of smoking is to ingest mood altering chemicals into your body. LIke taking a pill, or injecting a chemical directly into your blood stream via hypodermic needle, or taking an enema.

Like opium, and marajuana, the tobacco plant has a particular psychoactive substence. With tobacco its nicotine.

A lotta folks like the effect of nicotine in their systems. And indeed many are downright addicted to it. And the usual delivery system for nicotine in tobacco is via the lungs by smoking the tobacco leaves. The water pipe cools the smoke so its easier to ingest the smoke. But regular pipes and cigars and cigarettes work too.

Yes- alot of inginuity has gone into inventing smoking technology. Thats how much folks like nicotine and other stuff found in plant leaves (pot, opium, and cocaine).

But in all fairness -you ought to look for Comedian Bob Newhardt's routine "the introduction of Tobacco to Civilization" on You Tube.

Smoking tobacco to get the nicotine I think. I like the hookah more than cigarettes though

Tobacco is supposed to have a calming effect that lasts for less than a minute per inhalation. It doesn't work for everyone though.

Hookah is the same a cigarette in the sense that it puts tobacco smoke in your lungs.

However, herbal hookah is quite pleasant. Its like tasting and smelling potent fruit flavor and has no toxic effects.

To make money for tobacco growers and the manufacturers of tobacco-related products by selling an addictive substance.

Thanks for the welcome. Earth is nice, although some of the customs here are odd and the rent is too high. Other than that, my stay has been quite lovely.

There is barely any point. It doesn't give much of a buzz and really only the first cig of the day does that.

Of course, when you first start, you don't smoke that many and every ciggy gives you a buzz. By the time they stop having that effect on you, you're hooked. Not just on the nicotine but the ritual & routine - finish work, light up. Finish dinner, go and smoke. etc etc.

(10 a day smoker for 15 years, wants to quit but has not beat it yet despite many attempts.)
