I call my grandmother on dad's of the family "me-ma". Interestingly, the "Grandma" on that side of the family (with the same last name as "me-ma") was my great-grandmother, who is now deceased. My
me-ma" called my great-grandmother by her last name as if that was her name. My dad called her "Grandma," and maybe that is why I also called my great-grandma "Grandma." On mom's side of the family my grandma is called "Grandma" as would be typical for some.

This poll is for people to share what they call their grandma. If it is not listed in the poll, vote other and post it below. Also, if you have a more complex etymological system for grandparent names, like me, you can post it below.

None of those. In the Uk, we often called our grandmothers 'Granny', which is what I called mine. :( I miss her. She was like me.

Mom-mom, whatever their last name was. I had two different grandmothers and a great grandmother for quite a while, so I had to Standardize. :) .

I call(ed) both Grandma, but unfortunately one died recently.

"Nana" was my last surviving great grandma, who died on my 11th birthday (ages ago).

I called my paternal grandmother "Grandma", the only great-grandmother I knew "Wee-Grandma", and I call my maternal grandmother "Mampsy".

My parents had decided that one grandma was going to be "Grandma" and the other would be "Grams", I guess to avoid confusion. But when I started talking, apparently "Mamps" was as close as I could get to Grams, and that stuck for a couple more years. Later -- and I don't exactly know why the "ee" sound was added -- we started calling her Mampsy, and to this day that has just been her nickname to anyone in the extended family.

"Wee-Grandma" was also my fault, although it was at least somewhat fitting, because she was petite. I said something like "Wheat-Gramma" instead of Great-Grandma, and apparently it quickly turned into Wee-Grandma, which we used until she passed away when I was 3 or 4 years old.

Perhaps I should be thankful that no one had asked me to say "dump truck"... digg users probably know what I mean...

I used to call my grandmother YiaYia...we are Greek, so I used the Greek word...my mother's parents died before I was born, but whenever I talk about her, I say "Grandma Noreen...or Grandpa Richard." My mother's other parents, adoptive parents, I call Grandmoms and Grandpops. They were the only grandparents I grew up with, Save YiaYia and Popou, so they are like real grandparents to me. They live about an hour away, so we see them a lot more than we saw my Greek grandparents. Grandmoms and Grandpops are from England...I used to imitate their accents when I was a kid. Always loved the British. ;^)

None of the above.
"Oma", which is German for "grandma"
