Like, when you're watching a horror movie/playing a game/whatever, what is the thing that is most likely to reduce you to a shivering mess?

For me, it would be this: creepy faces, especially when a face starts out normal and then becomes distorted somehow and you have to watch. 8O Worst thing ever.

Nothing would reduce me to a "shivering mess," although I dislike jump-scares.

Giant freaking spiders make me shiver in fear (Skyrim, Shelob, and all those other fantasy thingies).

Giant freaking invisible spiders are just cruel and make me turn off the computer and go and sit in a corner, rocking to myself (System Shock 2).

Syringes. The thought of something penetrating my body and either taking a sample or injecting something gives me the creeps. In fact, going to a doctor and having to have blood work done is enough to make me pass out.

Just... creatures. Unknown, icky, weird, creepy, scary monster creatures. I'm actually not at all bothered by blood, bugs, shootouts and things like that.

Any surprises make me scream. And nails/swords poking any part of the flesh slowly. :pale:

Horror movies don't scare me. But I am terrified of clowns and mascots or people in masks. I hate Halloween.

Enclosed spaces with out generous exits & openings, and/or a lot of people in large enclosed spaces.

Shows/movies that psychologically break a character by putting them through mind-bending things, like in Donnie Darko, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Black Rock Shooter and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I don't know why, but I find it very disturbing.

Oddly enough, some of my favorite shows/movies had character breakdowns (or were revealed to have insane main characters the whole time) such as the movies Secret Window, Sweeney Todd and Fight Club, and the anime Steins;Gate.

So basically, seeing characters get put through the wringer psychologically either causes me to love something or become extremely disturbed by it. I guess it kind of depends on how the story is handled.
