Hi from Australia! Yeah I think about this sometimes, it's fun to think about. I also think about the fact that hundreds of people are reading what I'm saying, and I don't even know it (apart from the little number that comes up saying how many hits a thread has had). So effectively I'm "talking" to a whole bunch of people who are just secretly "listening" to me without responding. Weird.

In the 80's, the only person that I knew that could experience this type of thing was my friends dad, who was an amateur-radio enthusiast.

He had this massive aerial in his small back garden & he would converse with people from all over the world. I thought that it was awesome.

I wonder if he still does it? What with the advent of the internet, in the years since.
