If you use that somewhat esoteric mixture as a hair ((or fur) tonic, then why areni't you purple?

The purple elephants appear if you stay awake for long enough, or with the help of certain rather interesting substances. At which point they will tell you all the secrets of the universe, and then mock you by pointing out that you'll have forgotten everything they've told you once they've left. They're rather mean like that.
