Greetings Aspie brothers and sisters,

If you do use public transportation to get to where you need to go, you probably have experienced some or most of these annoyances whenever you're on a bus or train.

Firstly, crowded buses or trains. Am I the only one here on WP who uses public transit and has to wait until a bus/train that isn't crowded shows up? But whenever I do use a crowded bus/train, it isn't usually until I'm close to getting off is when there's only a handful of people that are still on.

Next, rude people! {Especially the ones who talk like the bus or train that they're on is part of their own home.} The ones who talk very loud on their cell phones, cussing like sailors, either thinking that no one can hear them or that they're the only person on the bus or train, with the exception of the driver.

Lastly, people who sit in seats meant for seniors or the disabled and refuse to move out of them. While it is true that it's sometimes hard to tell if a person is disabled or not, it's very disrespectful towards those who need "Priority Seating" more than those who need it less or don't need it at all.

So, if you use public transit in your city, what are your pet peeves about it?

The fact that they:

1: don't show up
2: don't stop for you
3: crash while you're in it
4: don't drive on sunday
5: ask to see your pass again after you literally thrown it in their face when you step on the bus because they think you might have a fake pass because you look like that type of person to them that fakes bus-passes.
6: don't stop at the stops where you have to get off
7: refuse to open the doors when you have to step off and blame it on themselves "accidently" not noticing you had to get off
8: get on a strike every 2 months to extend their long weekend (so they can have 4 days off instead of 3)

About the people on it, I hate it when they:

1: smell
2: stare
3: hold on to your body to regain balance when stepping off (old people)
4: block you
5: have buggies with 1 or even 2 kids in it
6: have dogs (and sit next to you with their dogs)
7: bring 100's of kids with them (school classes)
8: chew bubblegum in your ears
9: play music on their phones
10: talk to you (arrogant types only)
11: fart
12: come in very large groups
13: refuse to sit next to you because they don't like you

1. With you on the crowded buses and trains. I've memorized the schedules, and I know the few times on my route where the bus isn't packed. I'll frequently leave home earlier/wait around in the city a full hour longer than I need to just to avoid the most crowded ones.

Unfortunately, on my line, all the trains are packed, and most of the buses are too (and the ones that aren't are getting worse). It's at the point now on the trains that, regardless of how empty it may be when I get on, I always stand, never sit - I know it will be packed, and I hate sitting in those seats right beside a bunch of other random people with no personal space.

2. Yes. That is all.

3. I see that all the time...seems to be worst on the subway. I've even seen a guy sit down in the aisle seat, with the window seat beside them still available, watch an old lady get on with no other seats available...and not even budge.

Have to disagree here (see my desire for personal space above). When I am sitting on the bus, I actually try my best to ensure no one chooses to sit in the seat beside me.

Can I also add the people that can't control the volume of their music? When I'm listening to my iPod, and can STILL not just hear theirs, but actually determine which song they're listening too, there's a problem.

Not looking forward to classes starting next week and having to ride for a few hours each day again. :(

I used to use buses and they were terrible. The cleanliness was awful and I suppose the ridership wasn't great to make it that dirty in the first place. I couldve sworn they gave me head colds every other month. Then luckily after I stopped riding out of necessity they started cancelling routes and changing route numbers.

The only seemingly good thing about buses is that snow and ice didn't seem to effect them too much.

Crowded buses are a big pain. I used to leave home earlier just so I could take one to the end of the line station, 15 minutes away, then take an empty one to where I wanted to go (It's a closed system, like an underground, so I didn't have to pay extra. There was a big crowd there though, people push people at the time and once I almost got into a fight with some guy who shoved me half a meter into the bus to get in. I hated it.

I don't like clever fellows who to get a seat squeeze in before people have finished getting out, they make things slower for everybody, and the the one behind thinks "if he or she got in, I can do it too!" and the. it becomes a mess. Or entitled women and mean-looking middle aged guys who take the blue seats. Or middle aged women who moan about how there are not gentlemen left loudly, and frown upon everybody and shove people in order to take a seat (once I got elbowed to my ribs because someone had left the seat just before me; I'm glad I was able to suck it up and stand my ground but... it was kidly painful).

Now that I've moved, I live 30 minutes from college, by foot, and ten (plus waiting time) by public transportation, I choose to walk.

They don't run anywhere near where I need to go. Otherwise I'd be happy to take the bus to work.

When I had to take public trans to school, I didn't like the chatty people who sat next to me and the rowdy kids who sat in the back.

I did hear a funny exchange between two rowdy kids who went to a different school.

Boy: Quit messin' wit my duke!
Girl: I ain't messin' wit yo duke!

Still not sure what a "duke" is.
