Even though it was before my time, I loved the MTV of the 80s. Now, well....... ugh.

I used to love it in the 80's. Kept it on all the time. Then it changed. No more MTV, just another network.

I liked it 10+ years ago when I was in school because they had music & great adult cartoons. Unfortunately that's been replaced by reality TV

Am I the only one who liked it in the 90s? They had Beavis & Butthead, Daria, The Brothers Grunt, Liquid Television, & The Head.

Last time I turned to MTV it was full of reality TV tripe. It was better 10+ years ago.

Ahh yes, Real World. The "reality" show that was all staged, I remember that  The shows you said reminded me of celebrity deathmatch, used to get a good laugh at that show when it first came on.

Hate to jump on the 'Old MTV was bettar RAR!!1' bandwagon, but I have to say I used to like the Dutch incarnation of MTV up until about 2005-2006ish. I mean, back then it was already flooded with the reality type shows you also get in the States, like My Super Sweet 16 and The Hills, but they had this programming block from about 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM where they'd only play music, albeit with commercials after every 3-4 or so videos. Not just that, MTV Netherlands was actually playing relatively good music back then. You'd see a lot of Franz Ferdinand, Oasis, M.I.A., Arctic Monkeys, Danko Jones, Foo Fighters. I liked that. Buit after 3:00 PM, it would turn into Reality TV Channel.

So I was kind of an 'MTV Vampire'. I could watch it at a certain time of the day, and then when the fashionista/celebrity shows kicked in it was like '>hiss!<, Hide from the sun! Hide! Hide! Back to my coffin! Muahahaha!'
