More than 10 Center City stores didn't open as scheduled on Black Friday because vandals jammed the locks closed with glue, according to police. Locksmiths were called out to help open popular stores like BCBG, Puma, Max Studio and Starbucks Friday morning after employees discovered the doors to the Walnut Street businesses would not open. Most of the stores hit were on the 1400, 1500 and 1600 blocks of Walnut Street, according to authorities.
Police are still trying to figure out who vandalized the stores, but said one of the stores on the 1600 block had surveillance footage of the vandal in action.
Some of the other stores hit by the vandal were Kenneth Cole, Lush Kinetics, Brooks Brothers, Jack Kellmer Co., Easal, GAP, Bebe, United Colors of Bennetton and Joan Shepp.
All of the stores opened after locksmiths fixed the doors.
