I was born and raised there. :) I love polish food, I often cook some dishes myself. I speak, read and write Polish fluently, as you can see in the translation above. ;)

Cute women. Used to be a good source for jokes, for some reason I never figured out.

Our dog was born in Poland. Apart from that, I see Poland much like Russia, only a bit less Russian. Hope that makes sense. As far as I know, Polish people value their families, work hard and have to make it through very cold winters.

Do you have datshas in Poland? I really like the Russian concept of datshas.

I went to a Polish Catholic Wedding in Grand Rapids, Michigan, I was 13 years old and it was the first time I ever got drunk. I never danced and laughed so much in my life. Poles know how to party. And then there's the great composer Chopin. I love Chopin.

That is a cool video, thanks for posting it. :)

If you mean little houses by the lake or sea, yes, many people have them. I don't.

Allotments (działki) are more popular, imo.

i've been to Poland a number of times in the past and would like to go again

My family have a few friends who live in Szczecin and Miedzyzdroje, so those are the most common places we visit. several of my earliest vacations were in Lubniewice... as far as i've been told, today it's pretty much a dump...

One of the best vacations I had there was in Pogorzelica....mmm... I still remember the awesome taste of the fried eel you could get at a shop there for... i think it was 4 zloty at the time... dirt cheap... Suffice to say, If I weren't sleeping or at the beach, I was eating... usually dinner would consist of the awesomely well-made soup made by the holiday resort... and then fried eel from that shop... yum :D

also... i've been on Polish TV... on their version of funniest home videos :D

I think many of the Russian datshas I was thinking about also have a patch of (vegetable) garden. Much like the German Schrebergärten. Somehow the thought of spending the summer in a datsha, growing my own vegetables appeals to me, even though I'm not into gardening otherwise.

The one thing I remember about Poland is that in WWII the Polish army attacked the invading Germans with cavalry. Pretty amazing for 1945. much respect thats ballsy
