The title says it all....I went to my parents' house and was cleaning off the dresser in my room, and I found my stack of Pokemon cards that I had as a kid. :D They're all there - Pikachu, Meowth, Dragonite, Charmeleon, Eevee, Jigglypuff....I'm really excited to have found them again, even though I'm not as into Pokemon as I was when I was young. I never really played the game or traded them with anyone; I just liked them because of the artwork.

I remember that I really liked all the "cute" Pokemon - like Pikachu, Squirtle, Eevee, Vulpix, Mew, Jigglypuff, and Togepi, the baby Pokemon. Did Togepi ever have his own card? Everyone used to make fun of me for liking Togepi (bcuz he couldn't battle) but I just liked him bcuz he was a cute baby. :D

I never had one of those binders with all the plastic, pocketed sheets for carrying my Pokemon cards in....I just used a photo album, lol.

I have tons of Pokemon cards. I used to like the cute and girly ones. Now I'm all about Gengar, Banette, and Houndoom.

I used to have a lot of them; though I never bothered to learn to play the game. They seemed to come to life on the little pieces of cardboard; that's what did it for me. I mainly liked the Pokemon that didn't directly resemble any animal and were original in every way.

I love when you find those types of things from your childhood. When you've genuinely forgot about them, it brings back so many happy memories when you find them.

Squirtle was my fav...

Glad you found them :)

Back in the day when pokemon was at the height of it's craze I was in Tokyo and happened to walk by the pokemon store. I notice there were a lot of Americans in there so I went in to check it out, I had no idea what pokemon was. So I started talking to this American couple and they were telling me it's the big craze in the US and the Japanese cards are in huge demand. This was a few 3 months before xmas mind you. So the lightbulb went on in my head and I ended up buying a bunch of stuff. There was a limit on how much you could buy per day so when I went back the next day I made sure to put a few different shirts in my backpack and a couple of different hats. Keep in mind I look very western 6' tall and 240 lbs and I'm trying not to stick out in Japan  I guess we must all look the same in Japan because the shirts and the hats worked. By the time I left Japan I had $2500 worth of pokemon stuff in my suitcase. When I got home I started putting up all of it on ebay for xmas. I ended up making $13,900, minus the $2500 I spent. Not a bad profit  So I was going through some boxes a couple of weeks ago and found some packs of japanese cards and other memorabilia that I somehow packed away and didn't sell. I still don't know anything about pokemon

One of my priest's kids has a bunch of Pokemon cards. He thought it was quite crazy when I told him how much certain cards cost when I was a kid. He got all his cards for free.

All of the Pokemon have had their own card at some point in time. I believe that all of the Pokemon you mentioned were from generation I except for Togepi, who was from generation II. The generation II cards were made after the generation I cards, so that might explain why you don't have one in your collection.

I'm glad you found your old cards. :)

I also collected the cards but never traded them or played the game. My favorite card was my holographic Vaporeon.

well done on your find. i had my cards up until 22 weeks ago when i gave them to my sister. i had a togepi card once but i was told it was a fake but i didnt really care. i traded 3 cards for it. i used to spend ages drawing the pictures on the cards and i did it well. these things should never be thrown out. i liked generation 1 best which is when most of my cards were from.

That must be nice. I still have mine collecting dust in a box. I quit ever since I sold my charizard 1st edition holographic card for 365 dollars at a jewelry store of all places.

I only bought them to sell. One summer alone I made over $500 just selling them and Magic: The Gathering cards. I also sold my 1st Edition Charizard foil for around $300 at a flea market. I then used the money to purchase Heinrich (one of my AKs).
