As of late I have seemed to develop a strange obsession about the future. From 50 to 100 or so years from now. I have no idea why but I just would like to know what is so great about it and is there anyone here who thinks it is fascinating?

I'm also very fascinated with the future. I'd like to see what kind of transportation we'll have in the next 50 years and how much technology will advance. I also like to envision a world of tolerance towards all people, where every baby is born into this world and everybody is valued and accepted, whether or not they have a disability, no matter what disability they have. I imagine a future where everybody who wants a job will have one and everybody who wants a place to live will have a roof over their head. I imagine a world where even the most disabled members of society will have the opportunity to gain payed employment, if they are willing to work.

I don't care how the world will be in 50< years; I don't even care how it is at present. Also, I'll hopefully be dead within the next 50 years so it will be irrelevant.

I imagine the future to be amazing! technology will advance above and beyond expectations however I see real problems with economic growth. Here's a website that catalogs projected future events - http://www.futuretimeline.net/

I was thinking more "Ghost in the Shell".

I am not fascinated about the future :/

As far as I understand... I probably should have been born a few hundred years ago or so :?

The only thing I wonder is when it will require special authorization to have children here and when it will be limited to 1 by lottery... and America has 13 floors

I can also picture how different the street lights will be. The street lights of the future of my mind are LED lights shaped like shooting stars, planets and moons and they change into an array of various colours, against metallic backdrops of the city buildings of the future. There will also be such lights on the roofs of the city stores and buildings. I can also see everyone driving flying cars that look more like spaceships than they do, cars. The street lights will be holographic with the green lights resembling shiny, metallic pea green peas. The street lighting around the smaller roads and parks will be long LED strips of never ending blueish white that go up and down the pathways that need the most lighting.

Usually in my future I tend to avoid the cliche of a "flying Car"
But more or likely, I usually think: VR in the 2020s, Artificial Intelligences in the 2040s, Space elevators in 2050s and so on.

I think Mad Max is the future. That or Judge Dredd.

I am curious about what the world will be like in the next 50 years. I hope I'll still be around by then. But I've always had a feeling that I may not live past my 50s for some reason (probably because my body has endured years of psychiatric meds and stress)

There is a book by George Friedman called "the next 100 years". I haven't read it. I'm curious though. It looks entertaining, but I find that most bold predictions about the future end up looking silly in hindsight...

For me i am imagining the future to look a lot like that 2002 movie Minority Report. Hopefully that will be true.

Iam a sci-fi nut, so I am always fascinated with what technological advancements lie in store for us in the future. Hopefully, I will get to have a target acquisition device (read: the fancy projecting laser sights you see on cybernetic entities in the sci-fi films) built into the side of my head. Oh and replace one of my eyes with some sort of night-vision or thermal-imaging device. Don't forget the power armor either. Mechatronic enhancements will be a welcome invention when they become mainstreamed (kinks worked out, etc.).

I try not to think of the future much given the situations in the present i.e. political ones, economic ones etc.
