Also, there's the bidets; which the French use to wash their crotches so they don't have to take baths.

The French prefer to conceal hidden things with perfumes and good clothes. I'm not saying this to be rude, I'm just making a point that if they can't look good on the inside, at least they try to look good on the outside.

I've never been to Japan, but I go to France a few times a year and have studied the language since I was six (but I haven't had formal lessons since May).

My sister-in-law said that when some French exchange workers came and worked at her place of employment once: the aroma they emitted could knock a buzzard off the sh!twagon. (Evidently perfume is no substitute for good ol' soap and water.)

There are clean people and smelly people in every culture. It's just the percentages that vary.

In my experience I'd say the French were normally very well-dressed and clean living people, in comparison to other nations.
