Ok this might seem really random - but I have a problem with losing hair at the front of my head due to constantly pulling it back too harshly into pony tails or rubbing it with my fingers in a sort of stress stim, and I need to think up good ways to do my hair in the morning so that it doesn't irritate me but also doesn't put pressure on my scalp. Mostly I can't wear it out because of sensory issues (it irritates me too much, I have a strong touch sensitivity). I was thinking of doing a loose plait with a hair tie just at the bottom but if anyone has any other ideas for some variety that would be cool. :D

You could wear an elastic headband to push the hair out of your face. I use those when my short hair starts growing out and my bangs get in my eyes. The light pressure it gives on the head is kind of soothing in my opinion. :)

How sensitive are you? Half-up styles can be cute, but would leave hair on your shoulders and back of your neck. I have a few half-up styles that I like as well as one that is kind of twisted on the sides of your head which leads to a low ponytail. (It requires a bit of explanation, but it's not difficult.)

I can cope with half up or a headband, as long as it's at least partially pulled back. Problem is that both of those still pull the hair tight from my forehead which puts pressure on the front of my scalp and increases bald patches there.

What's a Chelsea?

Just bangs. It's a very unconventional look.

I could... but wouldn't that be a lot of upkeep?

You would only have a small part of hair left. And if it's comfortable then it's worth it.

I have it in a light ponytail with bobby pins to keep everything out of my face.

If you want it manageable without being too tight you could learn to braid it? When I had long hair I would french braid it all the time.

That's a good idea.

How about a loose braid or loose ponytail, just don't pull back on it so tight and find another stress reliever. My stress reliever is gum-chewing. I take out gum and chew on it when I'm stressed and it helps 50% to take away stress. or put your hair tucked under a nice cute hat to avoid touching your head and keeping your hair in place.

I've been having a similar problem, but it's not due to my ponytail being too tight, it's because my hairline is the target of my hair pulling lately. The only solution I have for myself is to get a fringe (accompanied by a nice chic bob) or to get it cut pixie short again.

I have lots of stress relievers, and pretty much all of them involve some form of self harm. :hmph:

I used to have very long shoulder-length bleached hair, styled in a wolf-base style, with lots of hair-spray and ironing everyday to keep it standing up, and layered. I loved to do spraying, ironing and styling, but it took a long time to style each time, about an hour.

Later I shaved it off and now I just have a very short cut, now its a bit easier.
