i rekon when ever you get to the end of the universe you get teleported back to the start of the universe so you will keep on traveling in space because you do not know where the universe ends so you will be lost in limbo fo millions of years :!:

If I'm not mistaken, and I might very well be...

Hindu legend has it every kulpa god sleeps and the universe ceases to exist. A kulpa is a million million years or some such large number. That's consistent with the idea of the big bang/big collapse cycle. The universe explodes into existence for a while and then collapses into non-existence for a moment or a while and the cycle repeats.

Are we talking about the physical Universe or the one inside my head?

There are three theories, expanding universe, collapsing universe, and stable universe. There is evidence to support each theory.

Yeah the expert would say they do not know. So this is really just our opinions. Though
its fair to use logic to reject opinions here to. I think expanding universe means the matter that was at the point of the big bang is moving away from that point. I do not think it refers to the dimension of space changing(growing). In the case of expanding
universe theory at some point all matter will be spread very thin in the univerese and a fraction of a second before the end that remaining matter converts to energy. Thus
all matter and energy spread out equalily in the universe (the defintion of the end ).
My theory is machine evolution will try to move as much matter as possible back to the original point of the big bang. In the process converting mass to energy at such a rate as to speed the end of the universe. With the only goal to try to solve before the "end" if the end is the end(or does it start over and can any knowledge from billions of years of evolution be passed to the new universe).

I like the metaphore of "breathing" for just about everything.

Inspire/Expire/Inspire/Expire. Respire.

If one were to broadcast an extremely powerful electromagnetic wave from one end of the universe that was capable of signaling a powerful electromagnetic wave to broadcast from the opposite end of the universe, given what we know about the size of the universe as we can tell by way of telescopes, it is quite obvious that the signal from the opposite end of the universe would probably return to us far beyond the time of our extinction or even our galaxy's collapse.

However, I have read recently that some scientists are considering that the universe may be a kind of hall of mirrors shaped somewhat like a soccer ball. If one were to travel to and through one of the hexagonal sides, one would be transported back inward through the opposite hexagonal side, that is, on the opposite side of the galaxy.

Thats the story of the benzene ring but it could apply to the universe to!

(born Sept. 7, 1829, Darmstadt, Hesse-died July 13, 1896, Bonn) German chemist who laid the groundwork for modern structural theory in organic chemistry. His early training in architecture may have helped him conceive his theories. In 1858 he showed that carbon has a valence of four and that its atoms can link together to form long chains. He is said to have dreamed in 1865 of a benzene molecule as a snake biting its own tail and thus conceptualized the six-carbon benzene ring; the facts of organic chemistry known up to that time then fell into place. He also did valuable work on mercury compounds, unsaturated acids, and thio acids and wrote a four-volume textbook.

If god goes to sleep accidentally and ends up destroying the universe, does he say "Mea kulpa?"

I think that the reason that our theories of the universe make it really big, really big but getting smaller, or really big and getting bigger is that, try as we may, the human mind cannot full grasp infinity. Sure, we can understand the concept that something does not end or even have a beginning, but only as long as we don't think too hard about it. I know, I've tried. I start to think about the infinite vastness of just the universe that I can see with my eyes and have heard of thanks to the research of astronomers, and my imagination only stretches so far. By about galaxy thirty or fourty I start to feel dizzy. After that, the only way i can imagine farther is if I just accept that it does go farther and not actually try to truely comprehend it. This is basically true for everyone, though I do invite you to try it (it is a very interesting experience). We can't comprehend a truely infinite universe (especially a timeless one), let alone try to scientifically explain one, so we have decided that since we couldn't figure it out that way, we'd make up our own story about it beacuse it's much easier that way.

If you do start to try to think about the vastness of space and the universe (or it's origins, but that's a bit off topic) I recommend a healthy dose of stargazing. Even if you are only just out of range of that street-lamp, look up--it's beautiful (For those of you who tend to the more literal side of things, I recomend only trying this at night and outside, and as far away from any light source as is convenient).

I don't think the universe never ends because there are people out there who think we are as close to normal as we can get! Social difficulties mean nothing!
