Has anyone ever driven so many hours to another state? I plan to drive 19 hours to Florida from Connecticut for my vacation in 5 months. It's something different, gets me to explore a bit of the country. It must be nerve racking although I would have to stop for food and gas at certain intervals along the ~1250 mile journey to west central Florida.

Used to work on the road just plan plenty of time to stop and don't be in a rush and it goes much better.

I'd rather go on a plane. Much shorter. I can't stand long car rides.

I've pulled off many long one-shot 900 mile road trips before. Many them included doing it over night. I'm pretty amazed that i've done it to be honest. It's not too bad as long as you have things to entertain you on the drive such as snacks, soda/pop, music, and, audio programs to listen to,. For me my obsession is power lines so that really does a lot to enjoying a road trip because they're everywhere. I also enjoy appreciating the changes of landscape, countryside, and even how states differ from one another.

I have, it can be really rough...you start to get cramped up after a while. Make sure to take plenty of rest breaks, and maybe make it into a 2-3 day car ride so that you don't drive while overly fatigued.

I think it's a good challenge, I might also do a shorter trip to Montréal which is only 5 hours away. That's nothing compared to the Florida trip.

I got plenty of entertainment, iPad for streaming music, radio stations too. It's cool to hear the different radio stations you hear as you go from state to state.

Many times... I made my first long-drive from Los Angeles to Portland, OR when I was 17 or 18. I drove the 990 miles in 21 hrs, and no problems. Many stops, because I had a 1984 Chevy truck with a big V8 and small gas tank, and I have a small bladder too. My longest drive in one shot was from San Antonio, TX to Ventura, CA in 23 hours (counting a 2 or 3 hour nap at a rest stop). I like the independence of road travel as compared to air travel, especially with the TSA and their "everyone is guilty of terrorism" attitude, and the probability of catching all kinds of bugs from other passengers.

As long as I carry enough cash in case of emergencies, and am not driving a vehicle with known problems, I love driving on long road trips :P

Agree with this. I would get too fatigued if i drove that distance without taking an overnight rest along the way.

I drove from Birmingham, Alabama to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and back alone, only stopping for gas and because I missed an exit to get to a place called Yeehaw Junction (seriously--that's the name of it), between the Florida Turnpike and I-75. It was great! It wasn't boring at all except for a little bit along I-10. I love long car trips alone.
