ENTRY 1: The Egyptian Connection
Image
I couldn't stop thinking about Akira from Akira today. It may be because of the fanfic I'm writing. Anyway, after sipping Red Bull for the first time and covering Ancient Egypt in my Western Civilization class, I noticed some similarities between Akira and the pharaohs, particularly Tutankhamun.

-Both Akira and the pharaohs were revered as gods, with huge cults of personality. In Akira's case, he pretty much IS a god.
-Both Akira and Tutankhamun ruled an empire as young boys.
-Both Akira and Tutankhamun died before hitting the age of twenty. In the manga, this technically happens to Akira TWICE. Ascension to a higher plane of existence, and all that.
-Both Akira and Tutankhamun are mysterious, intriguing characters that we, to this day, are dying to hear more about what makes them tick.
-Tutankhamun's remains have been studied. In the anime film, Akira was dissected, his organs placed in jars, after tests on his body yielded no results. Sounds familiar to the process of mummification, doesn't it?
-Wicked attire. That is all.
-The tombs of Tutankhamun and his predecessors are said to be cursed. People fight and kill each other over Akira.

MIND. BLOWN.

Maybe Akira was based off of King Tut?

This seems like an interesting story. Care to link me to the proper website or wherever you watch this?

The entire six-volume manga is online at mangareader.net. I also have the movie.
