Is there any members of the website have any horror stories in regards to doing business with sellers using Ebay? What changes would you make in regards to sellers on Ebay? There is a very good chance that you have had a rough ride with Ebay and I would like to read your responses.

Ordered two "black boxes" that will go nameless. But the shipper shipped one and a slightly different version. I contacted them and they said sorry please return it. I did alittle reseach turned out the box they shipped would work fine for what i wanted so i did not return it.

I buy a good deal of stuff on ebay. Usually I look at the seller's ratings before I buy. It seems that you can avoid a lot of problems that way.

i bought a digital camera off ebay a couple of months ago. the seller had loads of positive feedback, no negative feedback, and had been selling loads of cameras. so i thought it would be okay, but when it arrived, there was a big chip out of the lens. although he took it back and refunded me, including the postage expenses, so it worked out okay.

I'd give a cooperative seller like that positive feedback, even if the item did get damaged in transit.

I bid on a fan magazine from the sixties. I got out-bid, but then the seller e-mailed me that the person who outbid me didn't pay up. I sent her the check, and never got the magazine. I also never got to leave negative feedback. Ebay had a rule back then that you could only leave feedback within a month's time...

I sold a car for my boss. The guy who bought it was a total pain in the arse. I should have known better, but went ahead with the deal. He flew out, took the car, and immediately started e-mailing me that the sub-woofer didn't work. I finally told him I wasn't going to pay to fix something like that. He declined to leave me any feedback.

I've put items on Ebay, and nobody even comes close to the reserve price. People seem to think that items should go for half their value...

I've heard of that - it's called Ebay stalking. I've only ever had one offer on an item that I didn't win, but I had dealt with that seller before and trusted her. I got it and it was a really nice pendant - worth what I paid for it.

My biggest problem with Ebay is that they do not police the sellers and not hold them to the rules and making sure that sales are completed. Ebay does not adequately screen the sellers as to whether they can be trusted to complete sales. They let the sellers do anything they want. It also seems when you go to them for help with a seller, that they do not want to deal with you.Ebay is a paper tiger when it comes to enforcing the rules. I think that this will be the downfall of Ebay.Am I wrong about my conclusions?

I use ebay occasionally. My dad bought me the Beast Machines series on it, and it took a while to get here, and it was perfect. A week before xmas break, I happened upon Digimon all 4 seasons and all seven movies in english. I of course checked the seller, found that the person had perfect ratings and bought it. so I hope I get it soon.

I am not advocating not to buy items from Ebay. There are many great things on their site and great sellers, but I think that there are a lot of holes in their policies and they are rewarding the sellers that do not have any moral fibre and not helping the consumer.

Most of the things I've bought on Ebay were just fine. But the deals that went wrong include- buying Mountain Dew bottle cap codes and a bunch had been entered already, but the person made it up to me. Also purchased what was suppose to be a nice violin that was a piece of crap but the guy refunded my money and paid for me to mail it back. Worse purchase was glass skillets that someone sent in a cardboard box with a sheet of newspaper between each skillet. I couldn't believe someone would be so stupid. I raised heck with him for not using bubblewrap and finally he refunded my money.

I generally no longer purchase from anyone who has any negative feedback. Its only in the past 2-3 yrs that I ever had a problem with bad merchandise. Once they started advertising Ebay on tv is when all the scumbag sellers started appearing.

I used to think that E-bay was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

That bread has gone moldy and stale because of their refusal to help the buyer, protection of sellers and lax enforcement.

I bought a Game Boy game and it came to me crushed so the game didn't work. Contacted seller, no response. reported her and problem couldn't get resolved. Couldn't leave negative feedback for some reason and it hadn't been 90 days yet since auction had ended. I returned the item but never got refunded. I lost ten dollars. I still use ebay. Never had very much problems with sellers except slow shipping from a few due to problems with shipping. One of them was christmas season and the item was poorly packaged but the game still worked and it wasn't damaged.
