Potential for something beling liked by us

Here I mean by the title: things we actually so far aren't interested in that much but we do recognize some potential in ourselves for getting to like them, if only we ever get to know them more. You know, things we think we'd get interested in, making them maybe the object of our obsessions, if we ever get the chance to come to know them closer. Like: you aren't especially knowledgable on some topic but you actually think it could be quite an interesting thing if you read about it or something. I, for example, wasn't particularly interested in history and geography back in the past, nevertheless I did recognize the potential for me liking those, in myself and indeed, I really like those topics now. Or: I'm not interested in manga and anime now but I do think it could be interesting to find out about them more. Do you have anything like this?

All the time. It's rare that I have the follow-thru to pursue it very deeply before something else catches my eye though. I'm happy understanding the framework of something, but getting into details and nuances makes my brain go static most of the time.

Right now, there are a handful of things that I enjoy on a general level that have the potential to become special interests. They are all works of fiction, as nearly all of my past special interests have been. At this point, it's hard to say if they will become genuine special interests, but I know that they will if I keep pursuing them!

For something to become and interest of mine, it has to be something that resonates with me.
