Sorry if this is a bit random but I really need a little help here.
To cut a long story short, I really want to add somebody who fancies me and I fancy him, on Facebook. We last spoken a few days ago, but we didn't find out about each other enough because there wasn't much time, so all I know is his first name only and the town he lives in. Hopefully we will see each other again but I doubt it will be any more this week and I wanted to see him or have him on my Facebook before next week, when it's my birthday.

I typed in the search bar on Facebook his name and the town he lives in, and it comes up with a big list of people with the same name and the same hometown, but none of them are him. It took me ages but I looked through each and every match, until the list ended. I also typed in the name of his work company but I still can't find him (it says no results found). He said he's definitely on Facebook and his profile is a picture of himself. He's been looking for me too but it's obvious that he can't find me either.

I'm not quite sure why it has come up with every person with his name in his hometown, except for him. It's really starting to annoy me. Do you have any idea why? Or is it Murphy's Law as usual?
Also another thing that annoys me is when I click on a match (when I'm way down into the list), and find it's not him, I go back and the list starts over at the top again so I got to go back down to where I left at, which is very time-consuming.

Does anyone here know another way I could find him online? Is there any useful websites? I tried something like people finder, but that was stupid because it wanted me to type in an address and everything else, which is stupid because if I knew all that then I wouldn't be desperately looking for him online, would I? He said I could find him by typing his name and hometown into Google, but it just comes up with names of companies and businesses.

Any helpful answers would be much appreciated.

Hmm... well, perhaps he might not be using his real name on Facebook. He could be going by a made-up username (like many users on this site do.)

If that's the case, then I really don't know how to help you.

By the way, how big is this work company of his? Is it large, or small?

I'm not sure if privacy settings keep people out of public searches, but they might. FB changes all the time. Also, some people put a different city on there, possibly one they were born in or some even put a made up place like Dragonland or Candyland or something. He also may not be using his real name, like someone else suggested. I had one to use for WP members and the WP FB group and I put Olive for my first name and OilMom for my last name.

Try checking your privacy settings first and then look again. Also, his may be set funny instead. Try having your FB information written down on a little piece of paper and giving it to him the next time you see each other and that way he's sure to be able to find you.

He might not be using his real name on Facebook (since some people don't), but I think he would have said. When I said about finding him on Facebook, he said that he's on it and to just type in his name and his hometown. He said it will work better if I type it into Google, but searching on Google is even worse, it comes up with nothing to do with names on Facebook.

I tried Bebo aswell, since he said something about being on Bebo, but there is no search bar when I logged into Bebo, just a search bar for friends you already got on Facebook or contacts on MSN and hotmail. It won't let me look for anyone any further than friends I've already got.

Admittedly I did have my Facebook thing set on ''only friends of friends can find me'', but I did change that so that everybody can find me and add me. But he still hasn't sent a friend request, so he probably did at first but probably hasn't every day since.

His company he works for is quite well known, not too big but it's significant, and is under a larger group that is known all over Essex, I'd thought something would come up, unless he hasn't put down the name of his company in his details.

I suppose there is no other way of finding him, so I've just got to wait 'til I can see him again, then we can exchange contacts there and then.
