Cities are special places to me. Every city, no matter how homogenized it appears on the surface, has its own story. Bigger cities have thousands of stories that aggregate, while even the smallest cities have a narrative and character that is unique to them. So I have to ask you: what is your favorite city? Is it the one you are living in, or one you just like to visit? Perhaps it is one you have only read about or seen on TV. Either way, what city draws you in?

For me, I would have to say my favorite city is London. I have been there for an extended stay before, and I am amazed just how breathtakingly unique it is. London is one of the few cities in the world that truly belongs to the world, a global crossroads where everyone meets. To me, that is quite fascinating. I am not sure I could live there (the weather would get me down), but I feel an energy there when I visit.

My runner up would be Los Angeles. Los Angeles is also a global crossroads, which I like, and is fairly laid back. I could see that in the quirkiness of many of its people, at least in the city (I have never been to the Valley before). The weather is a plus.

I am moving to Atlanta soon. I cannot say yet it is my favorite, and it is not quite as cosmopolitan as London or Los Angeles, though much more cosmopolitan than most American cities. Still, I get good vibes from it.

I love London, but I think if I lived there, I would grow to hate it - same with Liverpool. I have a love-hate relationship with Manchester. Paris is nice. Barcelona would be good to live in if I could afford it.

I was going to mention Barcelona as well though I've never been there. Sounds/looks like a beautiful/nice place. Is it very expensive there?

Miami sounds interesting as well. Again I've never been even close to it. I've only read about it.

Cairns is not bad.

But for now I'm ok where I am.

Savannah GA!

It has the oldest intact city plan in the U.S.

I love the grand old homes, the squares, and the parks.

If I ever win powerball, I'll move back there and spend the rest of my days restoring houses in the Victorian District.

I love Mexico City. It's truly the definition of a metropolis. I don't know, there is a lot of interesting architecture, some nice charming areas, perhaps the fact that it's somewhat like Mexico's New York City (except it's not a port city, though it was basically once built on a body of water), and it seems to be attracting people from all sorts of backgrounds - even foreign, in recent years.

I've never been there, though one day I want to go there. Mexico is MUCH different from what's commonly depicted in the media.

Telluride, CO way absolutely beautiful the first time I was there. It's a small town nestled right in a valley of several mountain ranges.

Another city that I love was Albuquerque, NM * I think * just the entire style of the city was great, and the infrastructure was great, despite it being such a big city.

It's a tossup between Meenaleck and Crolly in the Rosses of County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland. But if I had to choose, it would be the district of Gweedore

Quote:
... known for being a cradle of Irish culture, with old Irish customs, traditional music, theatre, Gaelic games and the Irish language playing a central and pivotal role in the lives of the local people. This, along with its scenery and many beaches, has made the area a popular tourist destination, especially with visitors from Northern Ireland. Gweedore and the neighbouring districts of Cloughaneely and the Rosses are collectively known locally as "the three parishes", they form a social and cultural region distinct from the rest of the county, with Gweedore serving as the main centre for socialising and industry.

I have an intense fascination with Portland Maine. I've never visited or felt this city with my own self but from the images I've seen I know I want to live there. The whole city looks like a maze. Being the foodie that I am (specifically with seafood) Portland attracts me due to its numerous unique restaurants and easy access to top notch seafood. Living in a seaside town has always been a dream of mine. I dislike swimming but I adore the view.

Where is Telluride? I have been to Denver once before. Is Telluride on the Front Range?

I would either have to say my current city (Vallejo) or Makayla's city :3

I am intensely torn between Seattle where I'm at, and Vancouver, Canada. Pretty much fell in love with Vancouver the moment I first set foot there. I'm sure visiting Europe would complicate things.

Venice. At the end of September, when all the tourists are gone, and you can wander around and hardly see a soul once you are away from the Grand Canal. Bliss.

Can I ask what you like about Vallejo? I passed it driving from San Jose to Napa before, but otherwise know nothing about it.

No, it's not on the front range. It's on the southwest side of Colorado.
