Probably from Halloween 2009...I was 16 and was going to be a raven. :D My costume was comprised of this thick black corduroy jacket that my dad let me borrow, with stripped black nylons pinned to the arms (my "feathers," of course :D) long black pants, and a black top with fake plastic diamonds sewn around the collar (which was intentional, since I wanted it to be in reference to how corvids are attracted to/hoard shiny objects). I had tail-feathers, too, of course. :D

I wore my costume to school on Halloween, and wore it to a Trunk-Or-Treat event that me, my friend and her mom were helping out at. I don't think anyone was able to guess what I was supposed to be, but I didn't really care - I was having too much fun being a raven. I croaked and cawed in response to any crows/ravens I heard in the distance, I flapped my "wings," and I even lifted my head under and around my arms to do some "preening."

I honestly think I would have remained a raven forever if I felt like it, but the day after Halloween came, and I had to take my costume off. I still think about it, though, and how it made that Halloween the best one ever, even though I knew I was too old to trick-or-treat, no one knew what I was, and that I couldn't stay a raven forever. When I saw Moonrise Kingdom a couple years ago, I remember feeling a pang of nostalgia when Suzy and Sam meet for the first time and Suzy was dressed in that masterful raven costume for her part in Noye's Fludde.

When I was around 12 or 13 and I took my mom's eyeliners and drew the makeup from the cover of her boxed set of Mefistofeles by Boito on my face when I was bored.

Around Halloween 2001, when I was 14 years old. I went as a peacock; my mother made the outfit using fake peacock tail feathers. The costume was my aunt's idea; her father-in-law raised peacocks in his farm. Aside from the tail feathers, I also wore a Mardi Gras mask along with my outfit to give it the impression that I somewhat look like a peacock. I got a lot of comments on my costume when I went out trick-or-treating that year.

I haven't celebrated Halloween in at least five years, but one of my favorite memories happened about ten years ago. I was walking around the neighborhood with my young cousins, dressed as Michael Myers. I had everything down: the walk, mannerisms, breathing patterns, etc.

Anyway, we're about halfway through our trip for the night, when someone across the street yelled, "Hey, Mike!" I slowly turned, staring blankly ahead, not moving. The kid laughed and said his sister was scared of me, because she'd been watching "Halloween II" as I walked by, and freaked out. After he finished speaking, I stayed in character, turned back slowly again, and steadily moved down the pavement. :)

The thing that takes the cake for me is seeing that weird guy in my neighborhood dress in a green body suit and purple shorts and just randomly follow people around to scare the crap out of them.

He tried to get me this year, but I had a wand to defend myself with. ;)

It's not a good thing that happened, but I like this memory just because I can remember it really well.

I was either 6 or 7 years old, and I was at the house my Dad used to live at. Now, my Dad had to go to the shop at the end of the road, and told me not to answer the door. So, when someone was at the door, like a good girl, I didn't answer.

When my Dad got back, it turned out someone had thrown an egg at the door.

The end.

Halloween is my favorite holiday so it's hard to say. But I always had the best costumes, my mom loved making our costumes. I was a geisha girl one year and a skunk another, mom made my tail a bit to heavy and it kept pulling my britches down in the back, but I was 9 so didn't really care.

When I was like 7 I dressed up in a monk costume, but the hood has a black screen over it so you couldn't see my face or anything. I walked up to one lady's house and she opened the door and yelled "OH S***, AHHHHH!" and slammed it in my face! She came back out like 30 seconds later and apologized, apparently my costume really scared her half to death! She gave me extra candy for making a fool of herself!

When I was very young grandparents had a Halloween party for me and my cousins. We played games and stuff and I believe there was a sleepover after.
