Simple: Talk about about beer here. (Hey, those last two words rhyme!)
---
I can't drink beer, or any alcohol due to my meds. However, I will say this about beer: WHY DO PEOPLE DRINK THIS STUFF? It just tastes downright awful. I know that it's a popular drink, but I don't see why it is. I mean, the taste is waaay too bitter. If I were to buy any beer, it'd be for cooking purposes only.

It's an acquired taste I guess. That even applies to Coffee.

Though there are a lot of beers I still dislike. I really don't even understand the popularity of IPAs. I prefer something dark and malty like a Porter or Double Bock.

I can stand coffee, on an unrelated note, as long as it has cream and sugar in it.

I agree with the OP. It tastes awful and I wasn't able to acquire that taste. After trying it many times I concluded that it's not for me. I have no idea why it's so popular.

Beer is OK. I'd rather go for liquor.

Beer is the only alcohol I ever drank & I never drank a lot. I seldom drank in the last about 10 years. I only drink nowadays when it's available for free & that last time was visiting my dad's family last Christmas & a week or so before visiting my dad's uncle. Like others said beer is an acquired taste. I sometimes don't care for the 1st few sips like the 1st one I had visiting my dad's family during xMas. My beer experience/variety exposure is pretty limited. The cheaper lighter beers like Bud Light, Budweiser, Keystone Ice, & Coors Light taste more nasty but I'd drank em when that was all there was available. I think Guinness taste alittle better but my fav is Heineken & very closely followed by Beck's.

When I did drink. (I don't anymore) I enjoyed "Spaten Optimator", a german beer, very smooth and tasty.
But most beers I couldn't stand, especially big name american beers like budweiser, coors & miller.
The Canadians are pretty good at making beer.
And I don't know what the big deal about Guinness is, I find it disgusting. I guess you already have to be fairly drunk to enjoy it.

I always heard Jesus turned water into wine instead of beer

I've only been drinking beer for the last two years or so. I prefer them with mild bitterness. Light coloured lagers and pilseners seem to be my go to beers.
You can adjust yourself to the taste if you start with a very mild beer. I first started on a honey wheat beer, then I found the asian beers like Kirin, TsingTao and Bingtang. I was gonna work my way up the bitterness scale but I can't get past the taste the darker they get.

I don't like it either, and I don't really understand why most people do. It tastes bad, it can make you get drunk and act silly, you can get addicted to it, and it can kill you in several different ways...I just don't see the appeal. I don't plan on acquiring a taste for it anytime soon. :)

I don't mind Cooper's Ultra Light.

Tastes good (with peanuts!), plus it's cheap in comparison to regular beer due to not having a massive tax hit. Though I only get it when I actually have a spare 5 dollars [for six] to spend (which is rare).

What were you drinking? What was the pub like? And so on.

If you're thinking of some of the pale lagers out there then yes, they can be pretty awful. A poor pint of real ale can equally be disappointing.

I fancy a pint now actually.

I love beer... and I recently found out I'm gluten intolerant... :( So no more beer for me.

My fav is Blue Moon or anything that's relatively close to it that isn't flavored with a strong fruit.

Of course, i'll really drink any beer flavor. Coffee Beer is pretty good to my sense of smell/taste.

I went in with a friend to make some cherry/cranberry mead since I'm not supposed to have wheat/beer. He brews beer and has except for one batch, made, had good success with it.
