do people make 5-minute long videos for things like "10 reasons why dogs are great"?

A bullet-point list of the same information would take 1/5 of the time to read.

Rant over.

Why watch such videos in the first place? I'm very selective with such things and probably on watch a YouTube once a month (if that) but only if the subject matter is very interesting.

I don't have the time nor the patience to watch thing any more.

I used to when I was younger but not these days, it all just goes over my head.

I don't. I would read the same information in written form, though.
People keep posting them to make points in discussions, which is why I even know about them in the first place.

I love cats but I'm surprised I watch any videos of them at all even occasionally since there are probably trillions of them, even the recent ones about Maru. In fact I watched a video just this morning where a *very* playful kitten was pouncing on him a lot and he seemed to tolerate it even though he was maybe six times bigger than she was.

I've been wondering the same thing, and I love dogs.

Personally I never look at any of the YouTube videos members post. Life is too short. If they can't make their point in few lines of text I'm sure not going to watch an X minute video trying to work out what their point it.

Usually do not watch a YouTube video that says it is more than 2.5 minutes long.
Unless is a TV episode, movie or music video.

same here - I have multiple problems with videos, just being hearing impaired messes a lot up for me.

I try everything in print and only watch either music or TED talks - at least they are not rambling, they usually know something serious and real and new to me.

I have watched them on mute from time to time, just to show willing.

But I don't pay attention, because I'm usually in the company of my daughter and we watch telly a lot.

The funny thing is, someone could have made a ten minute-long video ranting about this, and you've summed it up into three nice little sentences.
