I thought we'd be further along technology-wise. I was expecting personal mechs by this time; so that's disappointing.

A computer I can hold in one hand. The first computer I saw filled a 100ft x 50ft room.

I was not expecting smartphones to become so 'affordable' to the every day user. BlackBerry and the iPhone were around, which were pretty expensive and required expensive contracts, and now people can get them on relatively affordable contracts, on a network of their choice.

I was also not expecting high speed broadband to become so publicly available. I thought it would always be something that was limited to companies with massive servers and such.

I was also not expecting to see 20, 21, 22, nor my 23rd birthday yesterday.

I've never expected technology to advance as quickly as it has. I remember when computers had either black and green, black and orange or black and white screens.

I dont even understand the question!

Are you asking "what has already happened in the 2010's that you didnt expect?".

Or, are you asking "what future things are you pretty sure wont happen in the next six years?".

I think it's the first one although you could quite easily make an argument for either so I'm not sure.

OT: Dress sense.

That people could continue to become even more vapid and shallow, everywhere I go I see people staring at their phones like they're mental patients.

^ This was really, really surprising to me too, same here Krabo! And not only this fact, but what Francis is actually doing / is like.

Another thing that shocked me: A estimation given by NASA / NOAA scientists, for how long the human race has left to survive (in significant numbers), unless we change something about our fuel-burning habbits: 30 to 40 years.

Small changes can produce big results, when you are right on the edge of which climate conditions can be considered stable.

The good news: We actually have a pretty good shot at making the necessary changes in time. So far, we are on track to do it. And the players are cooperating now, both big and small, even if they don't have a treaty.
