Ghost stories!
After my aunt died items in my house were moving by themselves. Doors opening, images falling from walls, cat toys rolling on floor. There was also a wierd smell, something like the church smoke. I also felt a wierd presence.
For some reason I wasn't scared. I decided to speak to the ghost and ask her what she wants and if she see the light. Then I got an image of white tunnel in my mind and a sudden urge to pray the "Our Father" even though I am an agnostic myself. So I did, thinking the ghost wants me to pray for her. The presence disappeared. Since the time nothing moves by itself and the smell is gone.
There is one more:
I was on a few days school trip with my class. Some of the girls come with an idea to summon a ghost. I decided to join them in case they do something stupid (it was after the situation with my aunt ghost so I felt it is my duty to take care of the ghost if they actually summon something since I am the only one who already did it once). My best friend went with me, she was felling alright. They started the summoning saying something like: "Ghost of the best male writer of this city, come!" (they called the name but I don't remember what, I just know he was a really good writer). Then they started to tell the whole summoning must be a BS since nothing happens. Then I felt something...
- Girls. Something is here... But it is definitely not a male. I feel presence of a female ghost. Did we summon the wife of the writer or what?
They looked at me and started to laugh. Then my friend suddenly told us she feels bad. I touched her forehead. It was hot. We called a teacher and he checked her temperature, she got 38*C. He walked us to our room and we my friend fell asleep soon after that. I didn't. I was still felling the presence. I started talking in my mind: "You are not needed anymore! Go away! Leave my friend alone!" and the presence disappeared. I went to sleep.
The next morning my friend was healthy again.

I tell the stories only to people who believe in ghosts or want to hear a ghost story. They usually say something like "Wow! Really?".
The girls probably wanted to summon the ghost for fun. I can't tell what was on their minds. Some teenagers just do such things.
The best thing is I actually don't believe in ghosts anymore but still remember that I experienced everything I told you about in the stories and I cannot explain this. It makes my head hurt.
This is only a made up story, but it's pretty scary.
Monks from the salt marshes
A caravan park is by the sea. Seems like a nice, friendly place to spend long week-end vacations at. But at night, after the night club has closed and the last drunk people stumble out and back to their caravans, something eerie happens and will isolate any caravans that contain people who know about this story. Right near the caravan site, on the beach, there is a vast area of salt marshes, where nobody goes. If you step into it, you will get swallowed up, never to be seen again. These salt marshes are haunted, but the most evil, ghostly monks haunt the salt marshes. And way after midnight, the evil, ghostly monks from the salt marshes come out and float around the caravans, silently. As I mentioned earlier, they will know if somebody in one of the caravans knows about them, and they will go looking for that very caravan, and then when they find it, they will isolate it. They will scratch at your caravan windows, trying to get in. Their faces will turn from one foul, deformed look to another, possibly frightening some people close to death. And there is no help because all the other caravans will just disappear in sight, and all you will see is more and more ghostly creatures emerging from pitch blackness all around, slowly heading towards your caravan, and if there is a door or a window just slightly open, they will try to get in and get you then drag you into the salt marshes, to be swallowed up, never to be seen again. So remember, if you know this story and are going to spend the week-end down by a caravan sight that's near a beach that has salt marshes, please keep your caravan windows and doors locked at night and don't look out of any windows, and you should be OK. They will go away as soon as the sun starts to rise.

Blood in the water
A little boy always went to play down by the river every Sunday afternoon. But one Sunday afternoon, he fell and cracked his head open on some rocks, and he died. His body floated down the river and into the sea, but to this day you can still see a patch of his blood in the water, surrounding the rocks where he fell, no matter how strong the current of the river is. The blood is always there, visible, in the water.
The funnel boy
There was an old abandoned train station, where an old rusty train sat there, leaning on the brick wall because that was how the council left it after they closed the railway down, just left to rot and be forgotten. But today the old abandoned train station was amusing some 10-year-old boys that were playing hide and seek. One boy decided to hide inside the funnel of the old train. He curled up inside, and waited to be found. He waited and he waited. It began to grow dark, and after a while the other boys thought he had gone home, so they too went home. The old abandoned place was silent. The boy grew uncomfortable and bored of waiting, so he tried to climb back out. But he couldn't get out. He got stuck, and felt he was being sucked into oblivion. Suddenly he vanished. When the whole town found out about his death, his friends told his parents to look around the abandoned train station for his body. His dad even looked in the funnel, but the body wasn't found. Nobody ever knew what happened to his body. But every midnight, a ghostly figure rises from the funnel and waves.
Don't worry, these aren't true. Or, are they....?

Get the book "13 Alabama Ghosts and Jeffrey" all of those are true, and I actually went and saw the "face in the courthouse window" in Pickens County. We stopped by and saw that on the way back from my FIL's funeral, who was buried in Union Chapel.
Really the only ghost story that ever happened to me was in our house in Birmingham. It was an old, pre-WWII, two story house and back in the 1950's a man named Norman Porthris lived there. My neighbor there had known him because they had lived in their house since the 40's. When Norman's wife died he became a drunk. One night he fell in one of the bedrooms and hit his head and bled to death, or died from a brain injury but either way he fell down, bled all over the hardwood floor and died. There was a dark spot on the floor there from it and so after we bought the house we had it sanded and refinished. About two weeks later it was back. I thought well they didn't get it all, so I got them back out to do it again for free and then again, it was back. We rented a sander and did it again and I was certain it was gone, we put the finish on it and then it came back again! Now, this was my oldest daughters bedroom and it was right there between her bed and dresser. She didn't want to sleep in there. She had heard us talking and asked about it and yeah I told her the truth. I mean it's just a stain and can't hurt you unless you have some kind of cleaning OCD or something. Well she got all afraid and so I finally just bought a big rug and put it over everything and the furniture on top of it and told her it's gone.

@Kiriae - Yeh I tend to run into skeptics more often than not, so I don't usually talk of any stories or possible encounters. My dad always says oh you watch too many scary movies. I'm like dude, could you give me any more of a cliched line than that? Sounds like every 80's horror movie.
@Joe90-haha that one about the drowned boy was definitely short and to the point. No beating around the bush there. Just blood...it's always there oooooo.
@oliveoilmom - Oh yeh, My Grandpa on my Mother's side lived in one of those types of houses when he was young. No odd blood stains, but he would describe other odd or freaky incidents from growing up there. For instance, his mother went to check on him in his crib. She was out hanging laundry and got a weird feeling and lost it when she saw that he wasn't anywhere in the nursery. He was too young to even crawl yet, so he couldn't have jumped ship. She scoured the house inside and out to find him outside the house near the road laying around...you know, just chillin'. Nobody else was home, since her husband was away on business. So either someone broke in undetected somehow and took him, but then got a guilty conscience and dropped him off instead...or something else. But he did say that they all heard the sounds of boots walking down the hallways at night when everyone was in bed sometimes. From the way they all talked about it though, it wasn't really anything that ever scared them. I'd be losing my mind. ^^0
