I know this probably sounds stupid as hell but there are such things as ethical crackers or security experts trained to think like malicious intruders and attackers and get paid to secure networks or websites.

Why not ethical trolling or forum admins and mods trained to take care of things like trolls and as*holes ?

These people would be trained to spot trouble a mile ahead and know ways of handling it as well as the psychological aspects of trolls and why they do the things they do. They'll also be trained to deal with ban evaders and how to quickly recognize alternative accounts and the troll's posting and forum browsing habits.

Before you guys go on about how stupid this sounds please explain how you'd try and make the internet a more troll free place. I'm not talking about getting rid of them once and for all but how to cut the problem down on forum sites.

Hmm, There might be a use for training to track down trolls from other sites like Facebook to alert the proper authorities of things like online harassment and prevent suicides ...

due to having been the long term victim of severe grooming and cyber bullying from a banned predatory member of WP to the point had ended up sectioned in a intelectual disability hospital am actualy well experienced though not invincible in sockpuppet and troll spotting skills and have always spoken with mods on any that suspect, however sock puppeters rarely use their own IP which is the sort of concrete evidence they require to ban.

we dont have to have titles to pass on our concerns to staff.
am also a basic ethical hacker [grey hat] and as a hobby used to do regular gui penetration testing for an autism support company, didnt get paid but loved being able to keep the site safe as they listened to what gave them, using various multiple methods have informed unmentionable major orgs of holes in their sites as well.

very few people get into paid jobs for hacking, and on forums like WP theres not the money for paid website e-guards.

I figure most admins have been through the ropes enough and given pro tips by who they are taking over for to spot stuff like that. and every forum has its informants reporting stuff to staff. I have found out i don't see a lot of trolling or get to many dodgy messages, because the staff is on top of things. Sometimes someone will point out a type of trolling or whatever and the staff says, "you think that's bad? you should see the stuff we remove before you can see it". i never spot trolling as trolling for the most part, so i guess i'm oblivious to it. usually whatever it is, it just doesn't make sense to me so i skip it and go to the next thread.
