...and now I'm nervous that prospective employers might see which petitions I've signed. Should I mark my profile as private so that search engines don't index it? Should I limit how much information gets posted to my Facebook account?

to the OP- I hope you didn't use your real name and photo on FB. otherwise there is no law that says you have to tell them you have an account.

well, yes.

are you American? there's no federal law prohibiting discrimination by employers based on political beliefs. i think it depends on the state.
