I had a wonderful dream last night

Last night I dreamt that I took an IQ test and my IQ was 194. I wish that could be my real IQ. My real IQ isn't even 100 :(

There are serious downsides to being highly intelligent.

Not fitting into society? I already don't fit into society. I might as well have a brain that actually works.

I tested smart but worked dumb. go figure. actually my iq test results were all over the map, from mentally ret*d to genius. I don't know what to believe. sometimes i function well but most of the time i am barely distinguishable from a denizen of a sheltered workshop.

but it at least tries to measure a very real thing, one's mental horsepower, as it were. horsepower is an indication of how much usable work an engine can do under load. IQ is a rough indication of how much mental work a human [cognitive engine] can do under load. as long as there are humans there will be the human impulse to measure anything that can be measured.
