I can't be the only one here who loves to read and has come to consider certain literary characters as friends. Who are some of your favorites? A few of mine:

Severus Snape
Thomas Lynley
Barbara Havers
Prior Phillip
Dismas Hardy
Aloyisious Pendergast
Ranger
Lula
Grandma Mazur

I know there are many more, but those are some of my favorites that I can think of off the top of my head. Anyone else care to share?

Makayla, I don't know how I could have forgotten Luna - she is my namesake!

I have a few favorite literary characters. In no particular order:

Sherlock Holmes
Joe Pike (from the series of novels by Robert Crais)
Jack Reacher (from the series of novels by Lee Child)
Kay Scarpetta (from the series of novels by Patricia Cornwell)
Joe Trona (from the novel Silent Joe by T. Jefferson Parker)
Sonja Blue (from the series of novels by Nancy Collins)
John Rain (from the series of novels by Barry Eisler)

It's interesting you mention him. I found the books by searching for the character, which is probably a little backwards. I did a search for fictional detectives and Pendergast's name stood out (obviously!) so I read his bio. That got me interested enough to read the first book, which I thought was very good. I hope to read the rest of the novels in the series sometime soon.
