:lmao:

i know i would just HATE it to be confused for an employee. this customer, is NOT right...

Quote:
(I’m browsing video games in a large national department store where all employees are required to wear red. This particular store, I’ve noticed, is pretty relaxed about what form the red shirt or top can take, as well as the shade of red. Coincidentally, I’m wearing a red t-shirt with a local hockey team’s name across it. A mother and her ten-year-old boy approach me.)

Mother: “Excuse me, is the Nintendo Wii still on sale?”

Son: “Wii-U!”

Me: “I’m not sure. I don’t work here.”

Mother: “Can you call someone back here who would know? He wants the Wii really badly.”

Son: “Wii-U!”

Me: “Well, there’s a customer service button over in movies. That should bring someone over. And I think he wants the Wii-U, the new system they came out with.”

Mother: “You want me to walk over into another department and ring a bell?! What the h*** kind of employee are you?”

Me: “I’m an employee of [National Insurance Company]. I’m not a clerk at this store.”

Mother: “Don’t give me that bull-s***! You’re a punk kid!”

Me: “I’m 26.”

Son: “Wii-U!”

Mother: *grabbing kid’s hand* “You know what? We’ll go to [Well-known Toy Store Chain] and pay full price for the god d*** Wii, because I’m sick of this crap!”

Son: “Wii-U!”

Me: *laughing* “Is that all he says?”

Mother: “HOW DARE YOU!”

(Eventually she was escorted from the store and the manager, after watching the entire exchange on the security tapes, let me use my ‘employee’ discount on the game I wanted. I got it for… Wii-U!)

Yep. That's just barely scratching the surface.

I work at Walmart, and have to be there for Thanksgiving and Black Friday...*shudders*.

That's what I just said after reading that he had to work! Glad you're alive, conundrum!

I've looked through several pages of that site before. Some of the stories really ticked me off. There was one where a group of soldiers came into a restaurant and were being rowdy, but people were afraid to say something because they were soldiers. A woman (in civilian dress) finally asked them to be quiet so everyone could enjoy their dinners. One of the soldiers countered rudely by demanding that the she respect the soldiers so they could celebrate their friend's (one of the men in the group) promotion. The woman stood up and introduced himself as a a major. She had just transferred to their base, and was ashamed by their behavior. She said their friend might not have his promotion for long.

Annnnnd, I just found it: http://notalwaysright.com/the-uniform-response/37719

^Yep, I read that one too. :)

The racist remarks...the customers who insist they are being "cheated"...the overwhelming sense of entitlement so many seem to have...aagh. Of course, there are also the instances where nice customers tell the jerks where they can get off...and the awesome bosses and managers who stand up for their employees.

I just keep hoping that I don't encounter any real jerks...although I did have to deal with someone who accused me of being racist once (my manager said something to the effect of "don't worry about it...she's nuts" when I told her).

Off to work soon... 8O
