Why are some people so obsessed with IQ in general, their own IQ specifically and in comparing themselves to others based on IQ's when the results of IQ tests are generally subjective judgements that have nothing to do with actual intelligence. Specifically, it feels is if people on the spectrum, at least in WP forum are especially obsessed with the topic. I would even go so far as to say that some people self diagnosis with AS because they are enthralled with the idea that they, themselves, are exceptionally intelligent and think that society has this perception that all people with Aspergers are highly intelligent so self identifying as having Aspergers validates their own perception of their specific intelligence level.

Newsflash. Every person on the spectrum is not a savant. Furthermore, I doubt that those Aspies with exceptionally high intelligence levels would bother with consciously associating with a community because an intelligence of that caliber does not require validation or approval of society for being smart. For these people, achievement is validation.
