:D
Mine would be a library with cats on every floor, a ten story building humongous and full of books on every possible topic, with meditation rooms and prayer rooms, and with studio lounges where you can bring your own blanket and just stretch out, and have a cup of tea...or pet the cats...oh, and important, good ventilation and ample heat provided in winter... I would also like indoor water fountain in the lobby...a bigger one in the garden in front of the library... (I like water fountains...)

A large library on one of the top floors of my fantasy castle's keep, with a balcony conservatory where I can read whilst overlooking the lake and castle walls.

An exact reproduction of the library at Alexandria.

That's not my dream library, but it's very much a dream for me.

A huge library, with Escher-esque architecture and living quarters. Some people have a library in their home. I want a home in a big library, and one that is TARDIS-like in dimensions too.

high ceiling, shelves all over the walls, spiral staircase to the second floor, big poof chairs, big beanbags, just bright enough to read, stained glass window, books bound in a uniform fashion accross one wall, the rest as they're supposed to be

A missle silo, shelves all around, balconies wilh rolling ladders, a magnifiying glass roof with iris, to keep the light even, open at night to watch the stars. Leather wingback chairs. A couch and blanket for naps.

With my books, perhaps a cluster of silos.

I would want my library to look like the labyrinth library in 'The Name Of The Rose'... lots of stairs in all directions, lots of stonework...in an old monastery, and full of very ancient books, especially illuminated manuscripts. There would be red, leather chairs scattered around the place and a reading desk on each level.

SunnyCat,

That sounds like my ideal library, too! I love books and cats! The sports section of my library would contain all the books by and about Roger Bannister.

My idea of comfort is being curled up with a good book and petting a cat!

My ideal library would be the world's largest collection of coloring and picture books.

Like a repository of dark knowledge - dark, Gothic architecture swathed in blood red velvet. The chairs would be jet black leather with extremely tall backs and deep seats. The tables would be ebony inlaid with gold designs in Krallian (My language) The library would be dim and smell of burning wood. Torches would hang from the celling. The books would contain knowledge of every sort - philosophy, the arts, science and novels. There would be no windows. And the entire buliding would be made from black granite.

It would have lots of hot naked librarian chicks who read the books out loud for me.
