My mother told me that when my father came over to fix a light bulb he noticed I had kitty litter scattered on the floor. She told me that wasn't very sanitary. I should have said, "It wasn't all kitty litter. Some of it was cat food, too."

Okay, not funny.

Now I feel guilty about letting my apartment become a mess. My mother said the landlord might even think about kicking me out or getting rid of my two cats if he sees it that way. He lives far away and very seldom comes over to check the building, and when he does he doesn't report any complaints. I thought I would have to do something major to get kicked out, like blow up a hole in the wall or something.

I know I have to do chores, it's part of being over the age of three or something. But I live alone, hardly anyone comes to see me, and I can't understand why people have to sweep the floor every day. I absolutely hate doing chores and I really seem to be slacking more than ever at doing them. It's not like I still live in a home where I had to be a slave to the clock and do them every day at exactly the right time or the staff would get really mad at me. No one is here to tell me to get up at 8 AM, take all the chairs out of the kitchen, sweep and mop the floor, wait for it to dry, then put all the chairs back. And wash the huge piles of dishes left over from nightime snacking. And then the next day, you'd do it all over again. And if you were not feeling well, you still had to do it unless you were half dead.

I know it's partly because it's hard for me to do things I feel are a waste of time, but mostly because I spend too much time ion the computer or playing video games, but I've always had a real bad thing about chores and if I didn't have my games and computer I'd "waste" my time with other things that are more enjoyable. How do I become better at doing my chores and get in the habit of doing them so people won't think I'm a hideous lazy slob?

Anyway, I'd better stop now and get started cleaning. You wash, scrub and scour and five minutes later everything is dirty again. What's the point unless it's clothes?

Use a calendar to schedule chores that aren't done every day, like washing the dishes.

It also helps to do the chores before you get on the computer.

The best way to handle bills is to pay them as they arrive.

Make a schedule and strictly adhere to it----allowing the most time, for computer and games, of course----and / or don't allow yourself to do what you LIKE, until you have done, at least, ONE chore, everyday. That's what I have to do, to get a little of each of my current interests done, each day.
