I just gave my latest phone a bath. It's my fourth phone in three years and I don't know if the rice will keep it from dying. Anybody else have a high kill count on cellular telecommunication devices?

Reverse chronological order:
iPhone 4 leapt out of my pocket into the toilet this morning.
Samsung Galaxy first cracked and then shattered the screen (though it still works if you don't mind only reading the bottom half of the screen).
Sharp POS that AT&T gave me as a replacement. Died about a year after I got it, don't know why.
LG Phoenix- left on top of my car after calling in to work to say I'd be late after my chains broke. Got to see it explode on the freeway behind me when I got going again.

Bonus phone murder: once lost my dad's phone out of my pocket when crossing the street, it got run over. Still worked, despite dangling in several pieces by wires. Ha.

None.
All mobile phones I ever had are either still working or were killed by someone else.

Except my first one, but it was still put on death line by my parents(they made its battery lasting max. 40mins due to keeping it connected to charger at all times) and I just gave it a little vivisection. It was not supposed to survive anyway so at least 13 year old Kate learned how mobile phones are made. But I still gave it more life than it could have - after my parents decided to throw it out I stole it out of trash can and used it for another a few months. The 40 mins was enough to call my dad to get me home from school if I kept the phone turned off till I needed it. Then, once I gathered enough money to buy a new one I destroyed the old, broken Siemens for the science!

All my next mobile phones survived their whole time by my side. And once I decided I want a new one my parents were getting them. I always had the best mobile phone of my household and my parents were inheriting mobile phones after me.
My dad is great mobile phone killer. He feeds them with sand and dust or sits on them.
My mom is not so bad but she is killing the speakers and mics for some reason. She simply talks the phones to death.

For my whole life there was just one dangerous situation with my own mobile phone that could end up in its death. But it didn't.
I dropped my current Xperia on a street. It cracked and opened but survived without much damage. It didn't even turn off. The only scar left after this incident is a little scratch in the corner. But I fixed it MacGyver style using transparent nail polish and it is nearly invisible now.
The same mobile phone was also dieing on me once due to refusing to charge. But no mobile phone will tell me it can't charge when I say it will. I gave it a new charger, it killed the new charger ( 8O ?) and... started to charge correctly again with its old charger.

None but come close with one. I had problems updating the android OS for my droid4 & I screwed it up. It then required me to start it by pressing the power & both volume buttons at the same time, then had to press the volume down key to hightlight Normal Startup in menu & then volume up key to select it. I latter dropped it while traveling on a bus & the battery expanded & the backplate wouldn't fit rite. I bought a refurbished droid4 on eBay after abit.

All of my previous mobiles have been traded in before they died. All of my landline phones are still in good working order.

Out of the three phones I have owned in my life, none. Heck, I have never owned a smart phone. Heck, the phone I have is the first phone I have ever had out of the three that is capable of sending and receiving text messages.

One I stupidly walked into a river with it in my pocket and got it wet....then I got it dried out and it worked for a couple days and died once and for all. Aside from that I lost a phone of the same model then got another of that kind and finally upgraded to my current phone.

I haven't killed any. I've outgrown them. The worst I've done is given one a cracked screen app.

I haven't killed a single phone. I have two cell phones (one from 1999 and one that is slightly newer) and they both work, although their batteries are poor.

I somehow have never managed to kill a laptop. Cell phones, walkmans, discmans, mp3 players I can kill, but laptops seem immune to my power.
Also I think I can blame the tiny pockets in women's clothing for at least half my kills.

None. Maybe because I hardly ever use them. I'm always seeing ads on TV where people are yapping away on their phones or texting or even playing a game while out walking and I wonder how they never bump into phone poles or wander into traffic. I'm lucky I can walk and chew gum at the same time.

6 or 8 over the years.. some just dropped too many times, others via water damage - like my blackberry that I had in my shorts pocket under my drysuit this past Summer.. one of my cuffs got a tear and some water leaked inside and the humidity from the sea water killed my phone. ah well. and yeah, since I'm prone to phones getting destroyed I didn't spend much at all on my next/current one - a whopping $80 complete with sim card & no contract. I'd kinda like a more powerful phone with a better camera, but meh, I can do without it.. I'd hate to have a $800 iphone or something get destroyed by water damage at the beach or something. So I won't buy a nice phone until the price I pay for it is a price I'm willing to absorb should it get damaged. $80 phones it is.. :P
