I took my big dogs for a walk. If they see a cat they launch off and its very hard to hold them. Well when i got home (after many miles of preventing any problems) they shoot
on the front porch and my male dog puts one cat in his mouth. I assume he does not want to hurt them but play. Anyway I get the cat loose and he(the cat) runs under the house.

I then take the dogs to the backyard. Its raining so I am going to put them in the backroom which is used for laundy. But that same cat runs to the back yard. I loose control
of the dogs again. The male dog gets him again I get him loose and the meaner female
gets him. I get him loose and bit by a puppy in my finger and mange to get the dogs all
inside. Anyway the cat hiss at me as I tried to check on him. I moved a barrel that he was laying by so he could get in it outta of the rain but he limped under the house again
(with 10 other cats).

I did not see blood but how much danger is a dog bite? He was not shook or chewed on
juste held. I'm hoping he is okay. Any ideas?

I had a black lab once that was pretty big and fast. She could easily run down any cat and one bite was all it took. If she got her teeth on any part of the torso, it was over, even before the shake, shake, shake.

Normally after her cat kill, she would very methodically and deliberately, lay down and BITE from one end to the other, until there were no more crunches, all without breaking the skin. As gross as it sounds it is amazing that there was no blood, but the body shape had no support from inside at all, after this.

The cat could be mortally wounded and show no outward signs from a dog bite, but that same dog could also grab my toddler nephew by the leg and half pick up and half drag him away from the street, leaving nothing but a wet spot on a giggly baby.

Yeah my brother had alot of black labs and I saw one kill a kitten years ago.

I'm hoping he's okay. So far only 2 cats have came out from under the house. So I take
that as a good sign that the cat is just staying dry.

I was very quick at getting the cat free each time so I'm hoping he is okay. I will keep
people informed.

It sounds as though you have too many animals running about the place, so they're fighting for territory and getting on each other's nerves.

Cats are always independent, so disciplining them is difficult. If the cat has been shaken up, it's also very hard to get near enough to see if it's all right: a cat's sense of pride will override any need for help. With dogs, on the other hand, it is essential that you are their master. Violent dogs are simply badly-controlled dogs. If they don't obey you then it's time to take them to obedience classes, otherwise things will get worse. A dog who thinks he's in charge is bad news.

If there are 10 cats under the house then maybe it's time to call in an animal welfare charity to take some of them away for re-homing?

Yeah I have tried to be responsible We have two big dogs in the back yard and a puppy.
I gave my mom $300 to have both the bigs dogs spayed/neutered. She just spent the
money on other things (my mom is a pathological liar). So now we got the puppy and
the big dogs.

My mom brought the one dog home from work the mother had been killed and she
brought the whole litter home from an gas refiner she was working at. We kept one and
she found homes for the others.

A handy man that works for my dad told me about the other big dog that was going to
be taken to the pound so I took it and another dog in. My mom found a home for the
other dog.

We have 4 very small old dogs in the house 10 years to 19 years.

We have one inside cat(for about a year)

One male tom cat living on the roof(for many years).

About 10 cats living in the front yard and under the house.

What I want to do is have the female cats spayed. But the only way that will get done
since I can not trust my mom is to get my sister to help.

The big dogs are escape artist and have to be hooked to a wire other wise they
will dig out. I put 80 pounds of cement down a few days ago and they laughed at
me(got out the next day). Being on the wire they get no exercise and will bark if
i do not take them on a long walk. If I take one the other dogs go crazy.

When i walk them they get stronger faster than me and when we finish the walk I'm
tired (they run home) and they get a sudden burst of energy when they see our
yard and I can not control them.

Yeah he came out from under the house. He was sitting very calm and I did not try to
touch him. I will watch him when he moves and see how he looks.

i have a mixed breed.. half lab... he is afraid of my cat and most other things. I am not sure how he is around new cats(outside from the ones he is fimiliar with). he attacks squirells, though, so he may attack unfimiliar cats.

my other dog doesn't attack anything anymore. but he used to. he was always alright with cats

He has got back under the house again. I did not see if he was still limping. If I see
him limping and out again I will get my sister to take us to a Vet. Oh I have no
car and no driver liense.
--------------------------------

He came out again but was not getting near the food trays so i moved some food near
him and he ran under the house. He looked good but It was only a short distance.
He still looks kinda dirty like he has not been trying to clean his fur.

My bf german shepard bite my small cat several times and i yelled at her to stop and she does not listen to anyone. So i put her in her crate for a few hours to disipline her and my bf is mad at me for doing it. He says it is my fault for forgeting to shut the door and i should not have tried to discipline the dog. But i told him, she has to learn it's not allright to bite the cat if she gets out on her own again when we are not home. She could be killed. Still he doesn't talk to me till the next day.

I made sure my cat was allright, i petted her and calmed her down and she started purring and was not limping, but her fur was wet so the dog did bite her but not hard.

Yeah these dogs would not stop with commands(I did not even try). I got my hand on
their mouths and got the cat free. I was very quick and my hope was the cat would be
okay other than the random chance that something vital was hit. When the cat limped
off at about 2 AM I think this mourning(yeah I have a sleeping disorder) I was concern.

It was dark and raining we were all laying on the ground in the mud the line I had
my dogs on (while walking them) was wrapped around my leg.

I'm going to have to walk only one dog at a time. The two dogs together might out
weigh me (I'm 140 something).

The catch 22 of having "human" society come to "rescue" animals is that if the animal can not be
trained to interact with humans ie most cats who are born "wild"...they will be killed. There are a few charities who do not do this, but the vast majority can not afford to keep animals that may be a danger to the people who come to adopt....I watch alot of "Animal Cops" shows and it is amazing how many animals end up being killed because they have been abused, neglected, born wild...they cant all be "reconditioned" to live with humans.

Sorry that this happened to you....must have been very scary and frustrating to watch...your lucky you didnt get bitten.I think if this cat is "ferral" you would do best to let nature take its course.I know that sounds cruel but vets are very expensive and if you turn it over to human society and it needs an opperation it may end up being killed. The real "fault" is the individuals who let their cats run "wild" without having them spade/nuetered because they are to cheap, lazy or think it's "unnatural".I
swear there are people who think animals are "furniture" and not sentient beings...crazy....

Well the cats are not wild or abused. 4 cat were born in the house and are very friendly.
The others were born outside and are less tame but do not run when they see people.
The hurt cat is running away because he is not over the attack.

Let me frame my area. My neighbor accross the street have chickens in their yard and
a big dog,
the house beside us is abandon caving in. The house by it has chickens in their yard
and cages with rabbits I think and pitbulls on chains. Across the street from them is
another abandon house that has a hole in the roof big enough to drive a car in.

---------------

Oh I did get bitten.

Machine - I had a problem with a dog escape artist. We have a chain link fence. My dad finally put gutter spikes hammered in the ground along the perimeter of the fence (about every 6") and tied the gutter spikes to the chain link with tie wire. Now the dogs can run around the yard and no more escape problems. Hope that helps.

Yeah I gave my mom $1000 to build that fence before I left for a trip to Florida with
my nephew. I got back a month later and it still had not been installed! Yeah I like that
idea about securing the bottem to the ground.

The cat seems fine. I just woke up and he was out front (its dark again) he jumped
about 3 feet to get a drink of water out of a bird bath and he looks clean so I say
he is fine plus he did not run away.
