200 years ago, on June 18th, 1815, one of the most famous battles in history transpired: The Battle of Waterloo. The once mighty French Emperor Napoleon Bonapart met his final defeat at the hands of Britain's Duke of Wellington and the Prussians.

I saw one of Napoleon's descendants on tv being interviewed at a farm on the battlefield, which will now be made into a tourist attraction.
If Napoleon had won it's possible he could have rebuilt his empire and we would all be speaking French as our first language today (and I include Americans in that ).As it happened Wellington gave him the boot :) .

Better yet, if he had not gone to Russia. Czar Alexander I figured out how to beat him and kept Napoleon's men from living off the land by burning the land. Then he let Winter itself finished the job.

Napoleon actually attempted to take control of the Western Hemisphere in the beginning, but rebellion from slaves and disease ruined those plans.
