Ants taste like citrus.

I wouldn't eat a restaurant quality one unless I was on the brink of starvation. I know so many insect parts are allowed in our food, but at least I can't see it.

My son taste tested some ants when he was little, and they promptly came right back up.

Personally, I think we'll be seeing insect-based food in the future: they're high-protein, low fat and carry pretty much no transferrable diseases, not to mention that raising them in large quantities is possible on cheap and widely available fodder and little to no effort aside from containment and logistics.

Only real obstacle is cultural aversion.

oh, you mean like in food??

nah I've never done that.

A couple times when I was younger I ate a bug just because I was curious of the taste. I seem to remember spiders being a little tangy.

When I was very young I do remember eating a fly or two. Wouldn't want them near my mouth now. Funny how little kids will eat things like that but will turn up their nose at real food on their plate.

I swallowed flies before while walking & I never noticed a taste.

I had ants once. They are crunchy but have little nutritional value. I wasn't sure if I liked them or not.

I have had a few fly into my mouth, the air here is so thick with them sometimes and I end up spitting them out.

Eaten a few ladybugs as a kid they are kinda sour, eaten some ants almost no taste, also have eaten earth worms. Grasshopoppers dont taste so bad but when it comes to bugs I stick to shrimp, crab and lobster they seem to have the most taste and have the most meat in them.

I remember a fly practically flying down my throat when I was about 12-years-old, and I ate a few ants when I was really little for absolutely no reason at all :)

I ate cooked crickets, mealworms, and larvae at an insect museum in New Orleans and they were all delicious. I swallowed some ants that got into my cereal when my dorm was infested and they tasted disgusting.
