I haven't even joined WP for 2 years yet and I've noticed that currently, most of the active posters joined after me in 2010 and 2011. I remember several active posters when I joined who aren't so active posters anymore. Even myself, I've gotten less active nowadays. For me, the reason is that the posts seem interesting at first but then a lot of it get old, with recurring themes such as "AS and family members" or "AS and math" or "feel closer to animals" or "like to be alone". I'm not suggesting in any way that its a bad thing, I mean, its good that the new members have a chance to see and discuss these topics.

So do you think thats the reason why it seems like its only a handful of members who consistently posts over a span of a few years?

it's a sine wave ;) you'll be away and then you'll be back a dozen times within this very decade... WP is a lovable s**thole, like some small town or suburb. you just keep coming back even though (or because) it just doesn't change.

only noobs are super-active tho ;P

I can only speak for myself but if it wasn't for being young and anxieties, I'd have been a regular poster for the past five years, when I first found the site!

I've been an active poster since 2004 and I've noticed the same thing.

I'm only active when i have the internet, wich is infrequent because of my living situation. So excuse me if it seems like i'm being annoying here, i'm just rying to get much posting done as humanly possible with the time I have. :pig:

I am just going to speak for myself also....I just barely found this site in october, and I was addicted to another site, so this was a secondary.

Now that it's summer,I have been really addicted to it, but I'm gonna have to stop for school in the fall.

And that's the thing, a lot of people go back to school at times of the year, and become less active.

Wow, my wording is weird today.

I'm not really a noob, but I admit I've laid off a bit on posting the past several months.

I have just been really active in the past month. When I first came here I posted maybe a few times a week.

I've been fairly consistently here. Active new members are sometimes old members who were banned and on a mission though, but as for just plain new members perhaps it's like with fixations in general: they seem super-cool until disillusionment sets in, and then are often abandoned once a supposed perfection isn't found. I've noticed that often people new to the diagnosis of Aspergers tend to think in terms of AS versus NT, relegating all evil to NT and all good to AS, but then are later dissatisfied to find that there are just as many bullies with AS as there are who are NT. IDK though, I think it's possible for WP to become a short lived fixation for many - especially while trying to obtain the 1000 post goal to be able to make a custom rank, but if they don't find other stimuli to their liking here then they may not stay here.

It's the same thing that many aspies have in our social connections, they seem to switch off and on. I have reconnected with friends I have not seen in years.

I feel I have been less active because I am feeling bored of this place and I want to spend more time offline and I have been distracted by other things like looking up things on google like abandoned roads and reading posts at Babycenter. Plus I don't feel like posting all that much. I feel the less I post, the less trouble I cause for myself.

Well, after some time you run out of topics you'd like to raise, you already shared your views with everyone on a site and wrote everything about you - the rest is just a repetition.

I love computers and I love the Internet and that's why I spend so much time here. I will never get bored of this place, and I also admit to the fact that I like to see my avatar pop up after each post that I make.

I've been here for almost two years and I've only made 771 posts. I don't understand how people manage to rack up thousands of posts in the space of a few weeks.

I've never been "fixated" with WP. I just find it a good place to talk about things that I'm interested in, usually non-AS-related.

why the sad face?

ok I'll admit that I'll likely leave soon for another several months/years simply for the fact that wp is such a time sink. I never get anything done while I'm here and time just seems to swoosh by (same with instant messengers, which is why I don't use them). don't know about others but I'm incapable of doing wp occasionally - it's either full-time or nothing :P

I've posted actively for 2 and a half years, and when I read old posts from 2009 all the active and popular members are all so different and I wonder where they've gone.
