Sounds like "the Boxer" by Simon and Garfunkel. The song has refrains in which the singer sings the syllables "lie lie lie, lie la lie lie lie la la lie lie".

Yay, well done!

10 points for both of you.

I'll try and think of another one shortly.

I got one!

For ten points

What song has this melody:

"dot-dot-dot-dot-dot-dot-dot ?

Just that.

Or "hi-lo-hi-lo-hi-lo".

(okay- its the bridge of the song. Not the A part. But still).

Is it called "Wrong lover" by any chance?

its a faster cadence than that. Like an ambulance siren "hi-lo-hi-lo-hi-lo" sound. :D

Okay.

Coupla hints before I tell.

It IS a bit of trick question because its the bridge of the tune ( The part in the middle of the song where the tune changes before it returns to the main tune), and not the main tune itself.

BUT its the bridge of an extremely well known song.

Give up?

"someday I'll wish upon a star and leave this world far behind me.

Where wishes fall like lemon drops, upon the chimney tops..

That's where you'll fiiiiind me."

The underlying melody is "dot-dot-dot-dot".

Then it changes back to the A section:

"Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds sing.."

The answer is: the bridge section of "Over the Rainbow" (from the Wizard of Oz).
