Racially ambiguous or hell no Part 1:

Does this guy look half Asian to you? If not or if so, what's your first guess at his ethnicity?

And no, this isn't me. I really am gathering more and more answers towards what's "racially ambiguous" to people and it's not going so well.

He looks more than half Asian to me, too. Anyway, what's the matter with being "racially ambiguous"? Is it so important to be ascribed some race or other? I've never understood the point, other than to have something to discriminate people and use slurs about.

decades back I saw a computer generated image of a mixed-race person on the cover of time magazine and she was BEAUTIFUL. thousands of letter writers to the editor expressed how they fell in love with the image. :o

People like to sort things into neat categories. It makes them easier to comprehend, but doesn't always benefit the things (people) being sorted.

I think he looks more asian in the lower photo than the top one. I would guess he is half asian and one quarter mexican/latin american and one quarter caucasian.

He looks 100% Asian. There is no ambiguity about it.

Most... likely.

Though I personally know some half-Chinese who... you really cannot tell at all. One of them even have ginger in his beard!

Apparently where they grow up may have influences? Mostly genes etc...

the 90s. I have the issue someplace. granted, we are both mixed-race Asian, but his Asian features are about to the same degree as my own. in my own experience I've been pigeonholed as a member of various races.

The word "Asian" is just so ambiguous though. I mean, the people living around the Russian/Chinese border are also "Asians", but can easily be blond...
