Okay, so I'd usually say that I'm either anonymous or at least pseudoanonymous online. I am not sure if that's even a term or not, but I consider pseudoanonymous being something where there is a small subtle connection somewhere that can be traced back to the real you, but otherwise your account is pretty much anonymous. Sometimes I wonder if that's even necessary and no one really cares, or if it's better to be very paranoid and be 120% untraceable?

Discuss it!! !

I prefer being strongly anonymous, but I cannot help but saying something personal from time to time.

Grr, the wording in the poll title doesn't work well with the wording in the questions.

I guess that would fit my personal definition of about the threshold of pseudo-anonymous, even a little tiny connection makes it not true anonymity technically. I think that my account here at WP is anonymous, especially since this username is only used here by me. I have another username that I use on a lot of other sites, and I think that sometimes I'm a little lax about keeping it fully anonymous. Though the things I'm thinking of you'd have to be trying pretty hard still to trace it back to me. I won't say what because that'd be kinda dumb. But, I don't really do anything I need to hide, and I don't exactly care to be 100% secretive because of all the extra energy and restriction that requires.

I wouldn't post my full name.
I'm highly reluctant uploading pictures of me.
But I have pictures of me on whatsapp.
I often give a wrong birthdate.
But I think I'm traceable.
Pseudoanonymous.

Pseudoanonymous.
It is theoretically possible to go from information about me here to my real name with a few steps in between if someone cares to do it but they are not obvious cues and I doubt anybody would even bother.

BTW. I believe everyone is at least pseudoanonymous and if someone thinks otherwise they are living in denial. If someone really wants to track you he will do it even if you try your best do not give any cues. There are stuffs you have no idea and no control about unless you are a hacker yourself.

I try not to be blatantly obvious, but I'm sure I'm traceable in some form. I can't fathom why anyone would bother, though.

I'm not that anonymous. I used the nickname version of my real name as my SN & I post about alot of personal stuff online. I don't give out my last name thou & I don't tell anyone offline about my online forums except my girlfriend who I met on this forum.

Wow, this poll is very interesting so far. I still wish I could change the wording though :/

I get waves of paranoia from time to time when it comes to this very topic. I haven't given out any blatant information (e.g. specific location or name), but if someone I knew in person were to read my posts, they could probably put the pieces together and know it's me.

The only person who knows I'm on WP is my psychologist, and I wouldn't care if he read my posts.

I chose "pseudoanonymous".

I think it's good to be cautious, but I also have to wonder about how cautious we should be. Where should you draw the line when it comes to talking about yourself?

Low - my name's Nathan and I live in Richland, Washington :P

I'm not afraid of people knowing who/where I am. In fact I have absolutely no concerns about someone here knowing about the "offline" Nathan, the only thing that makes me slightly hesitant is that people make all kinds of assumptions about AS, and I prefer they get to know me naturally and not make a ton of assumptions about me immediately.

On YouTube, this site (obviously), and most other sites I go by a username, but on Facebook I use my birth name even though I worry that I shouldn't.

On YouTube I was given the opportunity to use my real name, but I kept my username because I like it. :)

I think there's a difference between paranoia and being wise and having common sense. Like locking the door when I go out. Apparently that's a very UN-Canadian thing for me to do, even in the city. Whatevs.

I sometimes give my name--but I don't do it unless it's specifically asked.

I live in Queens, New York City, a very large place with almost 3 million people and about 100 square miles. If I narrowed it down to my neighborhood in Queens, there would still be about 50,000 people to choose from.

Many streets. Many cul-de-sacs. A place where you could get lost in your own neighborhood.

If I lived in a small town in Nebraska, I probably wouldn't reveal the small town publicly.

I give my general occupation, but not for whom I work.

Same usernames across the internet... But I have plenty of names as well if taken and if I choose to.
Preferences and choices I mentioned are all real. Things that I want, and few things that I need. But then, many people had the same things as I do so why not?
I could say the same with experiences and situations I gotten myself into.
Sure I do tell my full real name in few occasions.
But my birth date and age is mentioned just for the heck of it but it's real.
Never revealed my personal contacts in view-able public. Never shown any pictures of myself in real life.
Never revealed someone else's information unless the person I'm interacting is not a stranger in real life.
Never revealed my true current place; where I precisely live, where I studied, and where I work(ed) at.
Sure I'll only general civil status and general occupation. That's all.
I remain neutral. So, aversion to arguments and 'drama'.
If I have problems, I don't go too deep. But then, I prefer to read/listen other's. Yet, I'm not as experienced as so...
But then just because I witnessed many things, that doesn't mean I experienced many things...
And worry not, when real secrets revealed to me, I'll keep it and take it to the grave if I have to.
