So apparently the petals of poppies close up in the evening after they bloom..I did not know that. But anyways I went out to see my cats and noticed that, as well as a buzzing noise coming from inside one of the flowers. So for a minute I just wondered what it was and then figured it could very well be a bee...so I pried open the petals a little, and yes a bee came out. So I saved a bee from a flower, it had somehow stayed on long enough to get trapped when it closed up for the evening. Bees should be wary of flowers that do that. lol

That is what I did today.

when i was unemployed, one day i helped a lost little girl get to the service desk so her grandparents could be paged. another day, i picked up and returned a dropped shopping list. there are so many wonderful ways to be useful. glad you see value in these things, sweetleaf.

Your service to nature has been noticed. Consider yourself internet-saluted. :salut:

(Seriously, bees are our friends, and they're in decline.)

I started keeping bees this year. I have two colonies operating right now, and I eventually hope to have six total. Bees are cool! They're a superorganism, which is when multiple individual organisms act as a single larger organism when they group together. For example, individual bees are cold-blooded (sort of; they're insects) but the colony is warm-blooded (able to produce its own heat).
I could go on and on, but most people probably aren't as interested as I am.

I like that too, Im enjoying a local batch of blackberry flower honey at the moment and haven't had any summer allergy flare ups as of yet, nature is just fantastic.

I love bees. I used to save the neighbors bees from the water trough by letting the climb my fingers as a kid. I'd love to have a hive but mom is allergic.

That's very sweet. :)
I'd personally be worried about getting stung. One time however, I tried to save a bunch of earthworms that were drowning in puddles on a driveway. Unfortunately, the car then suddenly backed out and ran them over.
I guess the birds enjoyed eating them, at least. :?
