Here's a completely random, but fun Q: What kind of thing(s) do you like, that you can get for US$5 or less? For me, $5 scratch tickets (or even ones priced @ $3, $2 and $1), a Big Gulp drink @ 7-Eleven, Old Spice Body Wash (in either the Fresh or Pure Sport scents), books (and some pieces of clothing priced in that area) @ thrift stores, iced tea mix, a pizza/hot dog/20 oz soda @ Costco, and shaving razors. :D

Anything at the thrift store that reflects my current interests - just today I snagged a pair of child's roller skates for the wheels and stops, cost me a whopping $4. Whatever adult diapers I can find as long as they're $5 or less. Shoes, cargo shorts, black pocket T-shirts, books and tools (though lately a nearby library I found I can get 10 books for $1). Dollar stores are a mandatory visit at least once a week, though usually not Dollar Tree or 99 Cents only since the more generic stores offer a greater selection of potential treasures. Energy drinks, 8-packs of Super Glue, painting supplies, clear plastic shoeboxes for labeling and storing, random gizmos related to current and future projects, but mostly any kind of decent shampoo/ body wash/ bubble bath and counterfeit colognes

I love it when the grocery stores here sell 1 or 2 litre bottles of pop for $1 each. Can't beat that! Steam sales with games under $5 are awesome too, even though I often end up not playing most of the games that I buy. :P

I LOVE to buy hard-back books, at the dollar store----I always am very excited about that, because that's just BEYOND, "a great deal". I also like to buy paperbacks at "The Goodwill Store"----6, for 2 dollars. Also, my whole life I've been totally obsessed with purple----so, anytime I see something purple, around a dollar or 2, I cave. A few years ago, I bought a purple (lavender----actually, "eggplant purple" is my favorite shade) gloves / scarf / hat set, for 2 dollars. They're made of cheap material, of course, but are surprisingly warm. It's really great when my favorite supermarket has "white albacore tuna", on-sale for a 1 dollar, each----I always get, AT LEAST, 10 cans.

- "Made in china" junks in "Chinese Market" shops:
Recently I bought some headphones (similar to those: http://img.zszywka.pl/0/0257/w_5492/rze ... auszne.jpg ) in a shop like that for mere 5PLN (about 1,4$). I love them. They are small and portable but unlike earphones those don't go inside my ears and unlike regular headphones I can wear them with a cap. For some reason I couldn't find the kind of headphones in regular shops but the "Chinese Market" sells them... and they are cheaper than any other headphones there!

And many years ago I bought a blanket for 4 euro in a "Chinese Market" in Germany. I was on a school trip and I was cold (weather suddenly changed) so I entered the shop and bought the first warm thing I seen. Believe or not but I have it on myself even now, it became my favorite blanket.

- Second hand clothes:
The second hand shops often sell clothes for 2-5PLN the week before new deliver comes. I love hunting for occasions then. Some of my favorite clothes were bought for 2PLN.

- Second hand books:
In vacation areas there are often portable shops selling cheap, old books. The bookshelf in my house contains quite a few of books I found there for less than 5PLN. I always spend a lot of time in those shops when I am on a vacation trip.

- Regular shop stuffs - on sale.
Some time ago I bough a very nice backpack for a mere 4PLN in one of those fashionable, expensive shops you find in shopping galleries. I couldn't believe when I asked about price and heard I can get it for just 4PLN. I would be happy to pay about 40PLN and I believe it's normal price was like 99PLN.
I still don't know why it was so cheap(maybe because it was the last piece of a collection that already sold out? Or maybe because it lacked a decorative part that I would cut off anyway?) but it is a really nice backpack. It looks leather-like but it is made from a really soft, light, bouncy fabric and I can fit it in my small bag if I squeeze it. When I need more space I just take the backpack out, hide my bag inside of it together with all groceries and walk comfortably with both hands free and without even felling the weight because the backpack is surprisingly well made.

I just found a nice Saskatchewan Roughriders (CFL) T-shirt for $1.18 @ a locally-owned thrift store in another town right by me. Not bad. :D

I enjoy buying cats toys and candies. I imagine the look in the cats' eyes when I bring it home and how they'll react to it. I like buying cats' beds too.

What else is inexpensive? I also like to buy boxes of macaroni (elbows, not the mac and cheese boxes), which are reasonably priced at quite a few supermarkets ($1 a box).

7 Eleven munchies, their pizza, mini tacos and egg rolls are delicious, addicting even. Though I guess technically if you get a full pizza its a little over 5 dollars but its only a dollar for a slice. that food is cheap enough you can usually get a drink as well and it wont exceed 5 dollars.

I also like to buy things at the dollar tree if they have anything I am in need of, they don't usually have a consistent stock of anything though. But the last couple times I got conditioner, face cleaning wipes, a brush, hair ties, winter gloves and hat and a cooking spatula thing since all the ones in my house suck. Things that might have easily cost around 5 dollars or more each elsewhere.

Then of course thrift stores can be good for cheap clothes, though goodwill specifically seems a bit pricey sometimes. I also usually browse movies, books and all the random trinkets and dishes and what not since you never know when you might find something cool.

Chocolate bars, Cadbury mini eggs, ho hos, Pringles, doughnuts, chocolate eclairs, cookies and apple strudels. I also like to buy Coke.

I love to go look around two "pound stores" (UK version of dollar stores) near me, for little bargains in both practical items and tchotchkes.
I buy practical stuff like picture nails and wire, kitchenware, birdseed, etc, but I also like finding amazing book bargains at one store that has a few shelves of new books. I've found some real gems there, for £1, which is terrific when you see that the back of the book says £14.99 list price.

Well, yesterday I went to a local thrift store and picked up a working desktop computer tower (XP operating system installed) for $5. It has an 80 gigabyte hard drive, so I will use it as a back up for one of my other systems. I did have to supply a mouse and keyboard for it. No big deal as I have many spares just in case.

I am usually on the hunt for older video games when I go shopping there. (PS2 is the most recent gaming system that I collect for.) In the past, I have bought working original Atari, NES, SNES, and Genesis game cartridges there for as cheap as $0.25/each. The price all depends on when they came in, who was working there at the time and if they have room for them to sit around. Unfortunately as time passes, fewer of them are left in working order.

Sometime last year, I found-out that Cheetos is now selling small bags for 2-for-a-dollar (puffs type), and I buy them fairly often. It actually ends-up being more costly than the full-size bags, BUT it makes me stick to portion-size, which can be a bit difficult, otherwise, cuz they're quite addictive, and I've actually given myself a stomach ache, before.

I like buying Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars when I see ones I like. Nowadays I leave them on the card (hot wheel collectors lingo for not removing them from the packaging) because eventually I would like to display mine on a wall at one point.

I also love buying emblem for my collection at a bi-annual swap meet I go to. I usually don't spend more than $5 for a single emblem, and I have gotten some great pieces for my collection.
