Well a good question to start with is why are you drinking?

I don't know. Maybe just put the bottle down? Or try posting more and use WP as a substitute for alcohol. That's pretty much what I'm doing.

Well, obviously, if you keep on drinking, and feeling terrible, and trying to put it away, and then giving in again, the cycle will continue. You need to put it away and not bring it back out again.

I am an alcoholic and got sober years ago in the AA program.

yah, yeah, I know all the cliches and all the jokes about AA but, bottom line? it worked for me.
Alcoholism is a rough word to deal with. Yet nobody is too young (or too old) to have trouble with booze.

That's because alcoholism is an illness. It can hit anyone. Young, old. Rich, poor. black, white, male, female, or on the autism spectrum.
And it doesn't matter how long you've been drinking or what you've been drinking. It's what drinking does to you that counts.

If you can answer yes to any one of these questions, maybe it's time you took a serious look at what your drinking might be doing to you.

The answers are nobody's business but your own.

And, if you do need help or if you'd just like to talk to someone about your drinking, call 'em their in the phone book under "Alcoholics Anonymous."

1 Do you drink because you have problems? To relax?

2 Do you drink when you get mad at other people, your friends or parents?

3 Do you prefer to drink alone, rather than with others?

4 Are your grades starting to slip? Are you goofing off on your job?

5 Did you ever try to stop drinking or drink less — and fail?

6 Have you begun to drink in the morning, before school or work?

7 Do you gulp your drinks?

8 Do you ever have loss of memory due to your drinking?

9 Do you lie about your drinking?

10 Do you ever get into trouble when you're drinking?

11 Do you get drunk when you drink, even when you don't mean to?

12 Do you think it's cool to be able to hold your liquor?

When I first took this test I laughed, because I answered ALL the questions yes, and thought that AA didn't know a G-Da*med thing, cause I was ok! But I wasn't. Give 'em a call. And if you are not ready to give 'em a call yet, don't worry. If you are an alcoholic, it's just a matter of time before you are desparate enough to make the call. The Booze will see to that!

willpower, eh? Graelwyn, with all due respect, and not trying to be gross, but have you ever tried to use willpower with explosive diarrhea? That is like trying to use willpower with booze. Willpower is not the issue; having an genetically predisposed illness is the issue.

I find drinking in the evening is a habit. Substituting herbal tea for booze helps me cut down as I still have something to sip but its not alchohol.

Most of those are cool, though. I know I drink too much but I never drink in the mornings. The thought of that is horrible.

what i'd do if i was in your situation would be to :

a) try figure out whats pushing you to drink!
b) try distract yourself, if you have obssesions dive deeper into them and try find out info you didn't already know
c) try find a subtitute eg post on here how u feel get people from here talking to you!

P.S. HOW ARE YOUR PLANTS!
