I never had a lot of personal stuff except maybe toys when I was a kid. I had no problem getting rid of toys after I got older & had quit plying with them for a year or so. I do not care about sentimental value. The reason I haven't got rid of my Legos is because I don't know what to do with them. I wear my cloths even if they're very stained till I really cant wear them anymore due to them no longer fitting, getting too worn, &/or torn & then I trash them. I had bought a lot of physical CDs that I ripped on my computer & then kept the CDs because I didn't know how to get rid of them. I told my parents they could donate or give my CDs away or whatever when I moved out but I bet they're picked up in my closets somewhere. I have lots of cartridge video-games & physical DVD sets but I still may play or watch them so I'm keeping them. As for as other tech, I use my computers & phones for a long time after most others would have upgraded. It's partly due to the cost of buying newer stuff(I've always been at least kinda poor) & because I'm an Aspie who actually kinda sux with technology(having to relearn newer tech can be very difficult & frustrating for me, I mostly just want things to work for what I want to do). About the only other physical stuff I have that's really mine is stuff related to collections that I'm keeping because they're still kewl
My parents are a bit different than me with this though. My dad worked in construction till he retired after Covid started & he had saved lots of various stuff because it might be useful for work or DIY projects at home. Both my parents are into antique stuff & they bought lots of various things or saved things others were getting rid of partly to fix up, have for decorations, or use in other ways. They were very poor when they got married & gradually got to lower middle-class by lots of hard work. My dad did a major cleaning in his shed after he retired & mom's been talking about trying to sell various antique things for next to nothing that they never use.
My girlfriend has a major problem getting rid of stuff. Cass feels sentimental towards things & she feels regretful & missises things once she gets rid of them. Most of the stuff we have is hers. She has lots of various knickknacks, books, & things related to various art projects most of which is almost never used. Hoarding does run in her family.
